Best Strat I have EVER played
Quality:
Quality is top notch, no issues here.
Sound:
You can very easily get a Mayer tone if you wish, but I find it's just THE strat tone you've heard in your head for years. Try it, you won't be disappointed. I play it through a Marshall Class 5 and Fender Deluxe Reverb. I can sing, get dirty, or even howl if you want it to.
Reliability:
I've only had it 3 weeks, but it is a keeper. Solid setup, nice hardware. Seems pretty maintenance free since the tremolo is locked down to the body with the 5 springs.
Overall:
I've been playing strats a long time, and this is BY FAR the best I've laid hands on. The neck is just stellar in feel and craftsmanship, and the subtle appointments such as John's signature being on the back of the headstock rather than the front make this guitar classy as well.
Playability and Feel:
Neck is a little chunky, but nothing to lose sleep over. It is SOOO comfortable. I'm considering selling a couple other strats I like this one so much.
Tone:
Pickups seem a little on the low output side. You can really tell the pickups are scooped, but it probably isn't as over the top as some make it out to be. Very mellow and glassy without being brittle. Pretty thick tone overall.
Finish:
The Olympic White is very VERY classy.
Action:
Perfect. Low without being too low, and just high enough that the strings didn't get stuck under my fingers when bending.

Awesome tone
Quality:
It came in a factory sealed box. Quality was world class except for the cheap strap. Granted, it comes free as part of the "case candy" but still... it's a little more than a piece of string and a buckle.
Reliability:
I've had it about a week now but I expect it to perform very well for at least the next 10 years.
Overall:
Awesome.
Playability and Feel:
The neck is chunky. Almost feels like you're holding a baseball bat. If you dislike meatier necks, stay away from this. If you're like me and you either don't care too much about neck size or like bigger necks, then you'll like the neck. Action comes a bit high. It's supposed to be like this so I guess it's ok... but who likes high action? Very few players. I restrung and lowered the action and now it plays like a dream.
Tone:
I also have a similar guitar but with texas specials in them. I would have to say that the texas specials are twangier, brighter and have more bite to them. These big dippers are still twangy, slightly warmer and more articulate.
Finish:
FLAWLESS. At first I was a little hesitant to buy an expensive guitar online. I was not disappointed though. I got it here from American Musical. I recommend going to a local guitar retailer, trying the guitars out and finding which one you like. Then order it from here. The price online will either be the same or cheaper (when you consider tax). Plus, you're basically guaranteed that you're getting a brand spanking new one and not one that's been played several times already.
Action:
Action was high. See above.
