I play blues, country, classic rock and this bass is well-suited to all three styles. As I said above, this is my #1 instrument over my American Standard Jazz Bass. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Tone is whatever you want - from fat and dark to bright. Active electronics are responsive to technique so it's easy to get any tone you want from this bass. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The white pearl is gorgeous! The gold pickguard (plastic) looks good, but I'm going to replace it with anodized aluminum. I replaced the stock bridge with a gold Gotoh high-mass bridge; gold tuners and knobs will be next. I think Fender should offer this bass in white and gold with all gold hardware...
