An outstanding, straight-forward jazz bass
Quality:
The quality of this bass is superb. Nothing about this bass looks or feels cheap. It's built well, is very sturdy, and very dependable.
Features:
This is not one of those fancy boutique basses with tons of knobs and switches. It's a very simple, straight-forward jazz bass, which is what it's MEANT to be. And that's a good thing, in my opinion. The two volume and one tone knobs do everything I need and more. Don't let the simplicity of this bass make you think less of it. There's a reason why the Fender jazz and precision basses are the most used basses in the world.
Sound:
Well, another not-so-profound statement... it sounds EXACTLY like a Fender Jazz Bass is supposed to sound. And if you're familiar with Fender Jazz Basses over the last 50 years, then you know what I'm talking about. This bass does a great job at reproducing that vintage Fender Jazz sound. I almost bought the new American Deluxe Jazz, which is active. But I'm so glad I got this bass, because I love the passive jazz sound. It's so distinct.
Playability and Feel:
This isn't a profound statement by any means, but the bass plays and feels like a Fender Jazz Bass. The neck is slim and fast, and it just feels great under my fingers. It's like trying to figure out who Michael Jordan plays basketball like... He plays like Michael Jordan.
Tone:
Again, the tone of the bass is what a Fender Jazz is supposed to be. It's very bright and rich in the midrange, which makes it cut through a band mix very well. I'll take the tone of a Fender Jazz over anything anyday.
Finish:
The look of the bass is perfect. I got the 3-tone sunburst with rosewood fretboard because that's the most vintage-looking in my opinion. The finish looks amazing, and I love the tortoise pick guard. I wanted a bass that looked like John Paul Jones' Fender Jazz, and this one is pretty close.
Action:
I'm very picky about the setup of my bass, so I gave my new Fender a complete setup as soon as I got it. I have my action set a little higher than I would like because the strings buzz on the frets if I go any lower, but it still feels great. I've just been used to playing on my Peavey Cirrus USA before I got this Fender, and my Peavey can take a really low action. The action on my new Fender Jazz isn't high by any means. It just can't go quite as low as my Peavey without buzzing.

My last bass ever
Quality:
It's a Fender American. You can't beat it.
Features:
The overall quality is what I looked for. I prefer the Jazz's two pickups. The case and everything with it are nice too.
Sound:
What a difference! The tone is so much richer than my old one.
Playability and Feel:
I opened the box, plugged it in and went to town. It was as if I had been playing it for years. I couldn't belive how it felt. It's a lot lighter than my old Mexican-made J Bass.
Tone:
You can get all different types of tone out of this. It's very versatile.
Finish:
It's nicer than my furniture.
Action:
Perfect.
