Fender Deluxe Vintage Modified Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier - Blonde
Robert Chandler from East Wareham, MA, USA
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
It's a Fender... built like a tank.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only owned this amp for a little over a month so reliability hasn't been an issue or considerastion although it has been used on 15 gigs so far without a problem.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
I've been performing for over 40 years and never played such a versatile amplifier.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Controls are laid out nicely and easy to read and work.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
This amp is so versatile that the tone is impossible to describe. The clean channel tones can be sparkly, chimey, even edgy depending on the tone controls settings. The drive channel goes from barely crunchy to all-out soak easily. And the reverb can be subtle to lush. Delay sounds better than my expensive analog and the chorus is so cool I can even get a decent sounding tremolo out of it.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The amp was impaccable. Although all the pics on this and the Fender website show a darker finish, more of a brown rather than blonde. I was a little disappointed that it really was blonde instead of the images shown.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The amp sounded fantastic right out of the box. I don't think you could get a bad sound out of this Fender if you tried.
