Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Good Quality. I dont really like some aspects of modern tube amp construction but it is inescapable and we have to evaluate an amp based on industry standard practices. As for that, Fender more than any other maker, provides a solid, heavy duty circuit build with more more solid and high qaulity components for the dollar, than anyone else. For the price of this amp(under $800), from just about any other well know amps maker, you would get a fully disposable stamped PCB construction with disposable, unserviceable, microscopic parts, and 15 dollar Chinese made transformers. All of the Mexican made Fender tube amps are made with full sized, high quality, serviceable parts and Highest Quality, North American Made Hammond transformers. This amps a good buy these days. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Oh dont know yet. It has some big shoes to fill. I guess we will see if the praise (or scorn) heaped on the amps of these latter days is about 20 years. General Your general opinion of this product. A great value. Fender is probably the best Value in amps (generally speaking). Especially for tube amps in the 15 to 60 watt range. I find this amp is no exception. It has IMHO a more traditional Fender sound than any of the Hotrod amps, which makes it, in my book, the winner of the "which one will I buy" contest. Im glad AMS finally added the Head version. I have used one of these amps heavily for about a year, but its borrowed. I Plan to buy one from AMS soon. Its mainly used to mic my Handmade hybrid 5E3 -6G3 clone. It sounds much better for that than some PA. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Love it. Its really kind of a Fender Chimera. Not really its own unique voice but a great immitator. On normal channel clean, sounds like a Deluxe or Twin RI. Overdriven Normal channel sounds like an old Bassman. OD boost sound is like any Hotrod series amp. all very tight good and useable. A very musical sounding Fender Amp.A "workhorse" not a "boutique" dandy pants amp. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Looks good enough. Its a good old stolid plain Fender looking amp.I cant see anything wrong with it. Action How was the action out of the box?
