First and foremost go to your local guru and have them switch out the input jacks for something not so flimsy. After a couple years (if you're more than a weekend warrior) the jacks will break loose and the crackle and pops begin. Only about a $60 price tag down here in Texas... Other than that, I haven't had any other problems

After 10 years, I still use it at every show...

I've owned it since 2003 (not the III though I guess). When I bought it I didn't know how coveted tube amps were. Hell, I didn't know it was a tube amp until 2 years later... I was playing an Ibanez RG through it, LOL!!! But I know Fender doesn't sound like Fender without Fender gear... Or so they say
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Just say, once you figure out how to use the tone pots on the thing, live gets good again.

Built like a tank. The footswitch was inside the Velco holding it came loose in shipping, just glad it did not crush the speaker housing. Other than that, if I wanted to get picky, the Speaker Cloth is not even (straight) kind of a Quality Control at the Fender Factory Problem. Not made in USA Assembled in Mexico. Can live with it…

Only had this amplifier for 4 days. But I have never had a problem with a Fender Amp. Been using since 1966..

I have a Hot Rod Deville III 212, (look at reviews for the Fender 212 on this site) and I really like the versatility of the amplifier. I wanted the same features but a bit more gain and crispier sound than the 12” speakers could give. I was so happy with the other Hot Rod Deville I thought I would give this a try . It fit right in and gave me what I needed. Very Happy

It is great that they turned the controls so you can read correctly on the new Hot Rods...Plus did away with the Chrome Face, it is now black and easy to read..
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Great sound in all three channels, Normal, Bright and more Bright..
Finish

Tolex looks good, Grill Cloth is a bit crooked..
Action

Flip two switches and turn the knobs, does not get any easier...

Cam with a blown speaker, and a treble pot that won't go past 3. I'm sure AMS would take it back but I'm just going to save myself the trouble and replace the speaker and pot myself while I recap.

I have over 35 amps and this one fills the Fender sweet spot.

Love this amp. I can get anything from a sweet clean to a warm blues tone to a hard rock crunch. I use it with a rivera rockcrusher, an attenuator is required for a tube amp to be able to get a good tone at any volume.

It's a tube amp, great responsiveness to pick attack and playing style (i.e. hard, soft etc)

I can run the gamut from bell like clean to smooth overdrive to actually a nice crunch, with my setup (see earlier desc)

Good looking amp, i wish companies would start offering amps with metal corners and casters. This thing is not light.
