I have owned a few tube amps (Peavey Delta Blues,Peavey ValveKing,Vox Nighttrain,Peavey 6505+ Plus 112 combo..etc) Sold every one of them within a short period of time...Not this Sweet little beauty!!!The amp is pedal friendly(which is a must for me)...She is a keeper
Very simple amp in terms of adjustments...Volume knob..Tremolo knob...Bright-Dark switch and the on/off switch
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
This amp sounds awesome ...has the switch for bright-dark for tone...which makes it versatile for different genres
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Very appealing finish

This amp ios the biggest piece of JUNK I have ever heard. I can't believe people would buy this. the tone is unbearable and the 15# speaker only makes it worse. UYeah, having a spot for an acordian really makes sense (IF YOU OWN AN ACORDIAN)
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The controls are rediculous..who's playing an electric accordian????????????
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The worst sounding tube amp I have ever hear an absolute waste of money. The tone is horendous and only someone who has never heard a REAL tube amp or is under 15 could like it. This speaker is garbage
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
It looks like it was made in the 50's and sounds like ie too.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
A SERIOUS wast of money. Save your money and get a GOOD tube and for 299 you could geta Blackheart that absolutely KILLS this amp with REAL tube tone. This amp is nothing but a gimmick and garbage and won't be around for 6 months

The amp looks beatiful and suprisingly well made. According to internal amp pictures the tubes are mounted on the chassis not on the PCB which definitely bodes well for lasting longer. Unfortunately the tubes are where the cost cutting took place. Expect random crackling and occasional amp volume hiccups as the tubes succumb breifly to the vibration through the large speaker, you might want to buy some JJ tubes when you buy the amp to save frustration.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Only owned a couple weeks and sounds better each week other than amp noise at high volume r/t above mentioned cheap tube syndrome.

The first thing that hit me about this amp was it's outrageously cool look. Upon receiving the amp I am happy to say, it looks even cooler than the pictures. I own several tube and solid state amps and really have no need for another but I always dreamed of finding some weird looking vintage tube amp with a cool and unusual vibe. This fits the bill perfectly

Sharp contrast between bright and dark tones, makes you work to dial in exact tone you are looking for. The amp rewards your playing efforts like any good tube amp does which is quite a feat for an amp that cost so little.

Very nicely designed and almost makes you feel like you stole some cherished amp from Muddy Waters. Somebody in Fender probably came up with the idea for this amp while joking with buddies at the pub after work. The Excelsior proves that thinking outside the box can be liberating.

Well made, built like a tank. A little on the heavy side...but that's to be expected for a tube amp with a 15" speaker.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Only had it for a month but all my amps made by Fender stood the test of time, I'm not worried.

Has a Dark and a Bright switch...that's the great thing about this amp, I can go from a deep dark blues or jazz tone to a bright and twangy country tone. Don't be fooled though, this amp is big & loud in a good way. I can't believe it's only 13 watts!
