Right out of the box, the neck was set, strings were closely tuned, and ready to play.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I think this is well made. The Chinese guitars have come a long, long way in quality of build. I would gig with this after some upgrades without hesitation. I seem to buy and sell guitars every couple of years, but I think I hold to this for a bit. I'm really enjoying having it around. Even my six year old daughter noticed the difference in tone versus my Godin SD. She prefers the Tele. Reliability How has it stood up over time? So far so good. The not so hot tuners coupled with a plastic nut will make you stop to tune often, but with some of the aforementioned upgrades,the problem would be solved. Sure, it doesn't have all the top of the line appointments like a Fender(which aren't so top of the line these days anyhow), but its close. Considering the price of this guitar, put a graphite nut, an upgraded bridge, some better tuners and a new pick up or two and you still haven't spent what a "real" tele costs. The bridge drives my Bugera V55 nicely. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The finish is standard guitar finish. The butterscotch certainly stands out over the other Squier Affinity Teles. I would say the finish is neither mind blowing nor disappointing. Action How was the action out of the box? I didn't get this right of the box, so can't testify on this one.

My squire strat was made in Japan, and the Mexican made Fenders that I've played are well made also. I think Fender does a good job monitoring these products. The bridge PU has that nice tele bite to it and the neck PU has that beautiful mellow tone for blues. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? It looked awesom. I always wanted a tele and this color caught my eye. It looks even better than the picture. Action How was the action out of the box? It was set up pretty well, I did a little bit of tweaking.

It is fairly light for solid alder. neck was silky smooth.neck PU is a little muddy for a tele, but putting the PU selecter switch in the middle position and turning the tone knob to treble it has a good overall tone.
