2.5" Franklin Embossed Suede Strap: Very Nice!
By: DM Genest
Your general opinion of this product.
This is the first Franklin strap(Item#: FIN FSSEX LIST) I have purchased. Out of the package it looks and feels nice, soft and supple. It has the leather stitched on
top of the suede and is 1/8 inch thick.
The embossing is a simple subtle flower/leaf motif which
does not stand out at a distance of six feet or more.
The 2-1/2 inch wide strap's length, at it's shortest,
is 51-1/2 inches long from the center of the strap
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The strap appears to be well made. Stitching seems firm
with no looses stitches throughout the strap. It
already feel soft and pliable so no break-in is
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Soft. Plays well with others... ;)
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Snappy! I picked it up and it seemed mellow and
How was the action out of the box?
Supple out of the package. It fit on to my Fender Tele JA-90's
"over-sized strap buttons" with some resistance at first.
I was happy about that because easy on...easy off. I plan
on some strap-locks soon.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Even coloring on the chocolate end tabs. Appears natural
on the main body of the strap. A nice looking combo color
scheme for my 'Natural' finish Tele.
How has it stood up over time?
I have used it only one week and no complaints so far.
I would have expected none after a week. I gave it
four stars because of the brief time I have been
using it. With the quality construction it
appears to be at least a 4.
