Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I haven't had this product long enough to know if it is tough enough to hold up. It being my secondary set of 8 channels in my chain, I doubt it will wear out on me any time soon. I'm coming from a MOTU 8pre, which is built like a tank, but has very few features. This unit has practically every option I needed, however, the knobs that control the preamps seem a tad flimsy. I don't think that is a quality issue (the MOTU knobs are very stiff, the Saf56 knobs seem loose though sensitive). Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? I feel the best feature of this unit is the massive amount of I/O. Aside from the 2 amazing liquid pres (my favorite so far is the Class A setting, which emulates a classic Neve pre), you have 6 great focusrite pres, 2 x ADAT in (16 chan @ 44.1-48kHz or 8 chan at higher sample rates as is standard) and the SPDIF (2 chan) and the loopback fuction which enables you to record sound from youtube or itunes or any other sound that your computer makes into your DAW. I particularly love this function. HINT: the loopback is excellent for recording sound effects off the internet for your project. Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? wrapping my head around the rather counter-intuitive saffire mixcontrol was a bit annoying, but now that I have an understanding for it, I have no problems with it and actually find it useful. Value Was this item an overall good value? Aside from the liquid pres, I couldn't tell you why this unit is $1000. It is basically the same as every other 8 chan pre. The I/O is the possible culprit, which is justifiable. I actually needed the 8 extra 1/4" outs on the back (4 stereo headphone mixes) though I'll probably never use the 2 provided headphone outs on the front. Overall, if you have this unit, you will love the sound, you will love the I/O options, you will love the look. Appearance Appearance The unit looks slick in my rack, despite it taking 2RU (my MOTU was 1RU). I love the color scheme. It looks professional.
