Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Excellent Gibson USA quality. Thin finish, perfect fretwork and binding.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
A hollowbody bass that sounds good when fingerpicked. Two pickups for more than one tone. Marked down, however, for having no way to blend the two pickups. A bass should a volume pot for each pickup.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
Very good, general, unspecialized bass guitar. I hope to see this become a standard. I noticed they brought back the volute. Good idea. The last Gibson bass I ordered came to me with the neck already broken.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
All Gibson, all the time. Think Doobie Brothers or Rick Danko, not Flea. The bridge pickup does give some nasal honk without thining out, if you need to sit higher in the mix. The best, however, is the E string gives that pedal tone that just wraps around and soaks under everything.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Almost perfect. The ony blemish is around the control plate. Right up there with the best.
