Product Rating Product Review I love this bass. First the negatives: The plastic pickup covers feel cheap, and when I adjusted one, it didn't seem to move in the cavity very well. I had to adjust the neck a bit after breaking it in (Probably 1/4 turn) as it was bowing. It's a thin neck! My biggest gripe is with the tone knobs. They roll off sharply at first, then have almost no effect. You get a HUGE change between 8-10, affecting volume--which can surprise you in a gig. The switchable single coils offer very dynamic voice options. Now the good-plays great, intonation is superb even up high, and the neck is smooth-great for slides. Strings are fantastic, not sure what kind. Love the HB tone, very warm and powerful, my model is the passive, ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. Tuners are fantastic! I've gotten so many compliments on the looks of guitar and case. Superb design Gibson! I will hang on to this one.

Product Review I've been playing guitar and bass for 15 years. Gibson doesn't have the best reputation as far as bass guitars go but this completely redesigned EB is fantastic. The natural tone you get out of the swamp ash body and maple neck is beautiful and the coil tapped humbuckers give you a wide range of ways to dial in whatever sound you're going for. The sustain is probably the best part of this thing for me, I have honestly never played a bass with sustain this good. My only complaint is that when I received it, it had not been set up... At all. The bridge had never been touched to set the action or intonation. Luckily I set up all my guitars myself anyway because I am very picky about it so that didn't cause me any problems. Once I got it all set up it was phenomenal in all aspects. Just keep in mind if you are considering any Gibson guitar or bass that it may or may not be setup correctly or at all.

Product Review That's as simple as I can put it. I got the natural and the photo don't do it any justice. It sounds great straight from the box. Just tune it to pitch and away you go. The hard case that comes with it is just as nice, brown leather look and gold trim, nice size storage compartment inside for cable and tuner or strings.

Product Review I have played Bass for 30+ years. My favorite was a 1991 Epiphone until now. Gibson has outdone themselves with the EB5. I have paired it with the Peavey tour TNT and the sound is incredible. This bass has the rumbling lows to the highs with great sustain and no sound drops. The balance is perfect. Mine is the natural finish and is beautiful, I always get compliments on it. The pickups are among the best, you can adjust infinite sounds with them. The neck is thin enough to play the 5 strings easy and quickly yet wide enough that you don't have to worry about your low string dropping off fret. The Gibson 120 year inlay is a beautiful addition and well worth the extra $50. Overall I am totally pleased with this guitar. I was considering a more expensive bass but determined that the EB5 is as quality in workmanship and sound as basses costing much more. Just try one and enjoy.

Product Review Took delivery of this Brilliant red Gibson EB5 three days ago. After letting it rest for a couple of hours, I began inspecting it. The workmanship is excellent, paint job is spot on. I have never been a HUGE fan of Gotoh tuners, but they seem to perform as expected. Fretboard has a HUGE chunk of rosewood - probably the thickest I have seen on a bass! That's a GOOD thing. Unfortunately, the B String is too floppy for my taste - but it is functional. The neck itself feels absolutely wonderful although it is a tad "wide" at the joint - but nothing that can't be overcome. The build of this bass is excellent. I was quite pleased at the workmanship! The Alinco PUPS are excellent and offer a wide range of tones for both fingers and/or a pick One of the most lightweight basses I have ever held. I expected a much heavier bass and was surprised to feel how "might" it actually is - thanks Swamp Ash! The controls are easy to adjust on the fly- should you need to Wonderful, full tone. By using the push/pull features on the pots, you can get nearly any "tone" you are looking for, from bright to dark as midnight.. The paint (Brilliant red) is spot on - looks great! I have never owned a red bass in my 40 years of playing, so I was skeptical of what I might get. The grain under the paint is beautiful and the red paint really accents the grain in a beautiful way I think the price ($1,199) was fair. My only real "complaint" was that it could use a decent fret dressing. Other than that, the value is great at the price point. Not bad - the D and G string need to be raised at the bridge, but no biggie. The Bridge is easy to adjust and rings all day.
