Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Overall quality good...not like it like in the past. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Time will tell. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I have a 1980 Explorer 2, made excellent, finish grade A. Little E string snapped off the nut...had to re-cut the nut. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Neck feels excellent; however, does not feel comfortable while sitting (V shape) slides off lap. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? It's the bomb! Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Gibson did a poor job where the neck meets the body...looks like it was welded on. Action How was the action out of the box? Plays well out of the box; however, a little adjustment to the string height makes a difference.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This guitar appears to be made just as well as all of my other Gibsons, which is why I keep coming back. Nothing beats their quality and tone. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Too early to tell but I'm sure it will hold up just as well as the other Gibsons I have. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Beautiful guitar, excellent craftsmanship, and tone that makes you wake up and take notice! Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The guitar has a great feel to it. It is well balanced and feels great, right in between an SG and Explorer, weight-wise. I was skeptical about whether I would like the fretboard or not since they are no longer making it with an ebony or rosewood fretboard. However, despite that you can visually tell it's a different material, the fretboard feels amazing! It has a feel that is somewhat like rosewood but with the smoothness similar to ebony; and the tone is all there, it may actually add to the sound something that rosewood lacks. I did have to lower the height of the pickups though in order to maximize the tone and sustain this baby is capable of. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Powerful and punchy with a good amount of growl! The tonewoods are the best for that meaty rock n roll sound and match perfectly with these pickups. Some people think these pickups are too hot or are one-trick-ponies but I have them in my SG and Explorer besides this guitar and I love them. I can achieve any sound I want from blues to classic rock to full-on heavy metal with just a little adjustment from the volume control. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The finish was flawless and the guitar is really a work of art! Action How was the action out of the box? Played great right out of the box! I was a bit concerned at first glance that the bridge & tailpiece looked to be set too high but when I played it was amazing how good it was. I will probably still have my own setup done, as any self-respecting guitarist should, but still I can't complain for the setup is very good right out of the box.
Awesome guitar!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Gibson has restored it's quality control. Fantastic! Reliability How has it stood up over time? I'm sure there will be no issues to speak of. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Stunned. I could not be happier. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Nice and light. No neck dive here. Extremely well balanced. Practically plays itself. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The tone is on the bright side, but very thick as well. It's also loud acoustically. An important trait of a well made guitar. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Absolutely flawless. Action How was the action out of the box? Great. I lowered the bridge wheels half a turn. No buzzing or fretting out anywhere. The Granadillo fingerboard is beautiful.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Well, it's a Gibson. This isn't a cheap, corner-cut guitar. Lightweight and comfortable! Be very careful with this delicate beauty. Despite it's well built construction, any guitar is susceptible to damage...you wouldn't bang your new car up now, would you? Bottom line: You're paying for QUALITY! Reliability How has it stood up over time? Only had it a day...but very good so far. The case included surpassed my expectations. It's not an SKB or Gator Case. Don't sit on it...really. The guitar already feels like it will last quite a long while if it's well maintained. I noticed a tiny scratch on my pick-guard but it seems to be just a factory goof. can't even tell its there unless you touch it. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I've always wanted a Gibson, but they were always out of my budget. Years passed, and now AMS has offered EZ Payment Plans for the budgeting musician. I understand why they're priced the way they are; the wood choice, the pickup construction, the attention to detail, and oh, and it's made here in America. Gibson took their time replicating a classic guitar and bringing it up to modern standards... Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck? Unbelievable. Hardly any friction...It's a comfortably balanced guitar with the weight of a shoulder bag. I have no problem playing with the control locations. I have a strat and I keep rolling the volumbe back on accident because of my picking area...but this? There's no problems here. The action is just great! Not too low, not too high. Bends are easy, and going up and down the frets couldn't be better. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Well...I'm still getting used to this. Hot? Yes...very hot. Hot but clean. Not as hot as an EMG, Seymour Duncan or DiMizario...but...well, Gibson pickups aren't toys either. I'm impressed how clear the notes came. Chunky metal to liquid lead. Need I say more? Oh, and they're very responsive...and your choice of pick and the attack you have with it makes a difference. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Well, I expected CLEAR white...like pearly white. Although, creamy white is really nice in person...can't complain as the finish is smooth and no signs of cheapness ;) Action How was the action out of the box? Great...might need to adjust the bridge height or pickup heights...Gibson raised it a little too close to the strings. Nonetheless, it's a pick up and play guitar. Hardly any adjustments (if any) are needed.
Can't put it down!

Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The finish was perfect, no flaws. Action How was the action out of the box? Out of the box, the action was perfect - not too high. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Excellent quality. Feels very solid and well made. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I've only owned this guitar for a few weeks and have had no problems. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This guitar is BAD-A$$! This is my first Flying V, actually my first Gibson, and I am more than impressed. It plays effortlessly, the higher frets are easy to get to, and overall it sounds amazing. Not to mention the look of the Flying V totally embodies rock and roll. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Again, this guitar plays effortlessly. It's not heavy at all, the neck is fairly thin, and the controls are easy to get to. I usually wear my guitars fairly low and with this guitar, it's very easy to play that way. Also, I've read a lot of people have a hard time playing the Flying V sitting down. I've found that if you put the lower part of the V in between your legs it's very comfortable to play. I almost prefer to play this guitar sitting down over my other standard-shaped guitars. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Depending on how you dial in the knobs, the clean tone is very clear and smooth. When distorted, it growls with a lot of distortion. The pickups are hot, and pretty thick - not the thickest I've heard, but definitely not thin. Played through my Marshall TSL100 it sounds like heaven... Seriously.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Again, GIBSON Reliability How has it stood up over time? One word, GIBSON Overall Your general opinion of this product. Great guitar just wish it did not have ceramic pickups. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Neck is fast, and the body is very comfortable which I was worried it would not. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? As I said before, not a ceramic fan but sounds good but with alnico would be great. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? This is a hteat looking guitar. Action How was the action out of the box? Action was great. I have owned two other Gibsons, a Les Paul and Explorer. They both needed set up because the g string would not stay in tune but this V does.
