Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? case has started to come apart a little, won't stand up too well, but the guitar is pretty nice, It had a scuff on the body right out of the box, but I didn't mind. the electronics are perfect. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I already nicked it a couple times and whatever, It's a Gibson. They have a good warranty, and only go up in value. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is the most expensive guitar I've ever bought. I even waited 3 of the longest months of my life for this guitar to become available in red. I'm reviewing here to destroy all the myths about this guitar. I chose this model because it's the chuck berry color, the johnny thunders shape, and it's a gibson. The pros play these for a reason you know. After reading all the reviews, I had to check it out for myself, besides you can't just go into a store and buy this one off the shelf. The only other option was an over-priced ebay reissue for 2k, or the actual vintage jr's, along with 50 years of someone else's wear and a huge price, I chose this one, which I thought would be MY OWN version of the real thing. In other words I'd grow up with this one. It was the right move. Much cooler to just get a fresh Gibson, I felt like a rockstar the first day. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? about 7 lbs, the neck is HUGE! like an SG. After you re-screw the strap button behind the neck instead of on the horns it looks & plays way better. I only wanted this one rather than an original because all the harp I heard about the lightning bar bridge, but it doesn't make it any more intonated, trust me. But that's the Johnny thunders sound. The tuners aren't the bracket ones for a reaon, they're singles, and are very sensitive, and cutting edge with a vintage feel. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? THICK but bright. Cross bettween a fender and a les paul. more versatile than either. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Too dark, way darker than the image here. But since has lightened up to a real cool cherry. Not pink, or purple like it was out of the box. These are not loke the flat finished single cutaways, it's very glossy. Action How was the action out of the box? Higher than what I'm used to, but I've since adapted well to it, they have jumbo frets you know. The only reason I'd want an actual 59' junior was the baseball bat neck, but let me tell you, the neck is very very chunky. I don't think it's possible to get them any thicker.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This is made as well as the VOS JR except I get to age it. I don't expect any problems with this JR. Reliability How has it stood up over time? My other JRs are over 50 years old and this should last as long or longer. Overall Your general opinion of this product. As well made as my original JR's. Any serious musician should have this in their arsenal. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It is like heaven to play as the weight doesn't kill me and the feel is awesome. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Depending on the amp I used with my 71 Marshall I got a nice raw sustain with smooth overdrive. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? It has just a little bit more shine then my 56 Special but the color was just right. Action How was the action out of the box? The action was a little high which is the way all my guitars are and it was in tune when I opened the case.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Quality of Gibson is over the top lately. I have a new Les Paul, ES335 and ES135...they are all extremely well made. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I'm confident that this gibson product is stand up in an excellent way as my others have (over 40 years a Gibson ownere) Overall Your general opinion of this product. I should start by say I have a number of quality guitars (Gibson, Fender, Ibanez) so it is in this context that I'm rating the Les Paul Jr. This Gibson guitar is simply AWESOME! Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? This guitar FEELS like Rock and Roll. Set it to 11 ALL OUT Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Bright and biting...this guitar begs to be played in overdrive. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Perfect as always on a Gibson. Action How was the action out of the box? Perfect. This is the first wrap around bridge I've owned and i was concerned that intonation would be a problem. This is set up perfectly.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Quality? For Gibson prices - we should all expect A LOT more. This is a simple guitar - and exactly what I wanted. Japan would never have let this out the door. C'mon Gibson USA - wake up. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Are you kidding? It was botched from day one. Plek my a*s. This guitar must have missed roll call on Pleking day. Intonation was horrible (easily correctable) - but the nut was SCREWED UP. No fixing here. Complete replacement. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This guitar rocks. Great for just about any style. I'm 45 and have been playing for 30 years. It's simple and the P90 in the mahogany body creates a great zing. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Cross between 50's & 60's neck. Comfortable. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Snappy - punchy - just what the doctor ordered. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Fine. Action How was the action out of the box? It was even but high (partially due to the bowed neck and the improperly seated nut.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? The quality could have better on the first one. I can't imagine how Gibson would allow it to pass through QC. The first guitar didn't deserve and live up to the $1250 price tag. Reliability How has it stood up over time? The guitar feels like it's well built. As long as you take care of your guitar, it should out live you! Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is really sweet guitar for the price. It actually comes with an ebony board and case. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? I have to agree with the previous review. It's like a "semi slim taper". It's not a full as a 50's neck and not as thin as a 60's. It feels just about right. The finish on the neck feels great when you finally break it in. No problems with the frets, Gibson did a good job. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Gibson hit this one out of the ball park, IMO. The mahogany brings sweet mids and a chunky low end. While the ebony adds detail and clarity with a smooth top end (due to the warmth of the mahogany). It a really good combination of tonal woods. The p90 really surprised me. Sounds really good with dirt and is jangly/twangy when played clean. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? This is honestly the only flaw I found with the guitar. The first guitar I chip had several paint flaws. It played nice, but I couldn't over look the fact that a $1250 US guitar had so many finish flaws. I returned it for another and this one came back better. AMS was easy to deal with the return process. I'll definitely return for more! Action How was the action out of the box? The action out of the box was perfect. I only started getting some buzz after I tuned it to C. It's nothing a simple setup can't fix.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Very, very well made...much attention to all detail. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Give me some time. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Beautiful! As a young musician in the 70's these were everywhere, but we all wanted a standard. Now I wished I'd bought 10 when you could get a '58 for $350. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Love the neck. Much like my ES-135 no baseball bat here....semi slim taper. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? DUH! P-90. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Lovely. Action How was the action out of the box? Needed to adjust the neck & lower the "bridge".
