Very nice rig. Play slide only with this guitar and its an attention getter. This thing has soul.
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Well made, it makes you stare.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Righteous feel. Extremely low weight but has a$$ when you plug it in. Very squared away guitar right out of the box.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Can play almost any music with this rig. My bandmate plays an SG Standard through various pedals and will admit this 61 Reissue sounds better.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Good...no issues. It is now set up for slide only.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Righteous, it's hard to take your eyes off it.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Played and gigged with it for 5 months now with nary an issue.

I know agnus young plays an sg for lead guitar. This guitar sounds good at both Rythm and lead.
Rock, blues and just about anything
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Neck is very fast. Alot faster than a 50s les paul neck.
Guitar is light compared to a les paul.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Pickups are thick and Guitar has good harmonics. pickups a little dark when played clean.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
others say satin sucks but I dont mind satin. Fingerprints dont show up on guitar. I rarely have to clean finish.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action on guitar low and smooth.
Easy to chord and do lead work.

awesome guitar, very well made, iconic guitar, sounds amazing, plays great, can't be beat
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
the frets feel like butter, the neck is wide, you can get to all the frets easy, the body is obviously light compared to a les paul, the headstock has a tendancy to fall downward but i think it's due to the location of the strap pins. (there's no other way to do it so get used to it)
the controls are easy to get to, no problems there
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
the 57 classics are amazing! very hot and thick, just the way i like em
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
I have the satin black, i'm perfectly fine with the finish on the satin SG's, if you don't like it, get one that's painted.

out of the box is ok, I encourage everyone to set your new quitar up how you like it.

Great guitar.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I play SG's pretty much exclusively so everything feels right and is where I want it to be.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
This is where this gutar really shines. It's big, thick, airy and punchy with plenty of grit on tap. Pick lightly and she purrs like a kitten, dig in hard and she screams like a wild cat but it still has enough clarity to hear every note in a chord.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Ok. Here is my one and only complaint about this guitar.
The description says satin finish which it is but Gibson didnt bother to fill the pores in the wood. It looks like someone pulled it off the production line, grabbed a rattle can and went to town. WTH! Ive got an Epiphone SG with a satin finish and it only cost $400! Come on Gibson for $1500 you can fill the pores. If it wasnt for the tone of the guitar I'd have sent it back!
