General What is your overall opinion of this product? Love it. From the overall feel to the retro look, my new favorite. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? I looked it over from top to bottom; once I got it tuned properly, could not find a flaw anywhere. Most of my guitars are Carvins, so I'm used to opening a new case and finding a quality product, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the SG. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Typical SG; lightweight & a blast to wring it out. The sideways bar is different, but it's not in the way. Personally, I like that this sets it apart, but that's just my .02. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Smoooooooooth!!!! Tone is amazing. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Exactly as pictured on the website, except prettier in person. :-) Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Great price, no question. This is my new 'go-to' player. Carvins and American Strats are close in price, but just like Ford & Chevy, each has it's own place. Because the neck is thinner & narrower than some others, I found it easier for technical stuff & found my speed faster than on some others I own. Playability How was the action out of the box? Once I got it tuned, it was good to go. Having never owned an SG, it took a few extra minutes to get it right, but once it was set up, I played it until dawn. It's the lightest guitar I have, as well as the thinnest, so playing it was less fatiguing than heavier sticks. Also like the neck width and smooth fretboard. A new SG was on the list, but the added 'umph' of the '61 re-issue retro look really does it for me. Glad I waited for this one!
