General What is your overall opinion of this product? Its a true Gibson SG, minus the paint job, pick-guard, and trapezoid inlays. It actually looks great without the pick-guard in my humble opinion, thats what made me look twice to begin with. The natural wood finish look is also a huge plus to me. I love it. As far as tone, the 490's are great sounding pups. Very warm, with plenty of punch. Overall, Gibson hit a home run with this one. To get an American made Gibson SG of this quality for this price is an absolute steal. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? The quality is top notch. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? This guitar is light! I mean light, I cannot stress that enough! It took some getting used to, that is for sure. The satin finish makes for a very fast feel as well. No neck dive whatsoever on this one. It felt really well balanced. I am not a fan of the strap hook on the back of the guitar (like all SG's). I would suggest a stiff strap if you have any kind of a belly (like me). Without it, the guitar tilts a little forward because of the position of the strap hook. You could always pull a Tony Iommi and have a hook attached to the top horn, but I would rather not do that. Its not that big of a deal. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? The tone is very warm, a little dark. I like to tune down a half step anyway, so dark and warm fits my taste perfectly. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Love everything about the finish on this guitar. Its just plain cool, in my opinion. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? A American made guitar of this quality for this price. Seriously? Its a no brainer. Phenomenal value. Playability How was the action out of the box? Action was pretty good right out of the box. I brought mine in to my local guy for a pro set-up (and string change, like I do all new guitars) and he said he only needed to do a slight adjust on the action and a slight truss rod adjust.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? As a player for 45 years, I can't say enough about the build, materials and components available at this price point . A USA Gibson working musicians can afford . General Your general opinion of this product. Came out of the box setup and ready to tune . Classic SG sound and looks, what more could an old rocker ask for ? Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? From dark and booming to sizzling hot, this axe delivers all the SG tones you know from Angus and Duane and Robby Krieger . The pickups are and controls are smooth and easy to adjust to your desired tone . Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The stain is beautiful . I did use a polish with carnuba wax, to protect it .

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Mahogany body, rosewood neck, and the same pickups as a Les Paul Supreme. General Your general opinion of this product. for the price this is great. better than some of my more expensive imports Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Pickups are HOT!. you have to crank way down on the volume to clean up the sound, but that could just be the pot. way heavyier than the pearly gates in my fender. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? the finish is nice you can see through the rubbed white to the wood grain. with the black hardware as a contrast it looks cool.
