General What is your overall opinion of this product? Quality in every sense. Craftsmanship is second to none! Plays and sounds great! I love every part of this "Captain Kirk Douglas Custom SG!" This guitar is a work of art!!! Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? Just wow!!! Amazing guitar! Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It feels fast not heavy or light but just right for me. The neck is spot on with my style of playing. Control are easy and I can do more with the toggle switch/knob. Superb product!! Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Love the tones, yes to all the answers. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Outstanding Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Better than I could've hoped for! Playability How was the action out of the box? Awesome playable straight out of the box!

General What is your overall opinion of this product? I am delighted to own this guitar. This is my halo guitar as I have always wanted an SG but could never justify to spend the prerequisite amount of cash needed. This version is in my ultimate dream configuration. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? It's my first Gibson and the fit and finish was done to a very high level of execution. The way all of the controls function is as it should be. It was set up at the factory and was perfect for me which is unusual as I tend to be picky about stuff like that. The case is also cool, it is well made and has a reptile/snake skinned covering with a plush white interior. Quite simply worth every penny!!! Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Neck= wide enough for my hands and very fast. quality fret job and smooth, easy neck profile. (guitar is not neck heavy either, very balanced) Body= light and very tapered around the body and the "horns". The controls are well placed and the controls work great. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Tone? Tweaker's Delight! Three awesome 57 classics. with the following capabilities Neck= Coil splitting Middle pickup= has separate control (togpot) to fade in or out to thicken or thin your desired tone!! Bridge= Coil splitting So with this configuration you can reach anywhere from clean "strat"-like tones (coil split) to full on PAF raunch with options anywhere in between. For me, this makes this guitar is invaluable because it is adaptable to almost any musical style and be really workable within that genre. It may not be the best at any one sound style but is has a wide range of possibilities. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Gibson=Flawless. I am sad that now it is losing the factory smell as I continually play it. It is simply stunning. My color is called vintage cherry and it looks like a dark maroon-ish cherry red. It is not a solid color but a deep stained lacquer with very beautiful wood grain visible underneath. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? I got more than I expected. It still amazes me that I own this instrument. I am very pleased with my purchase. Playability How was the action out of the box? Set up perfectly for me straight from the factory.

General What is your overall opinion of this product? Excellent guitar! Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? A player right out of the box. Very beautiful instrument. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Great feel. Nice neck. Not neck-heavy. Love the new control system. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Nice to have a configurable SG! Great sounding in both normal and split-pickup mode. Also really nice to have the dial-in mix for the middle pickup. A definite plus over the original 1969 version (which I also have owned since 1969). Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Guitar has a nice finish. No flaws. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? For the price, this is an excellent instrument. It's was definitely a bargain. Playability How was the action out of the box? Action out of the box is perfect. I have many guitars, and only a few have been players right out of the box. This is one of them. Great job Gibson!
Not the quality of a $1,500 Gibson!

General What is your overall opinion of this product? This has the quality of an Epiphone, Fender Squire, etc. In fact, I've owned lesser inexpensive Epi's that were better quality than this "Made in the USA" Gibson! This is similar to the $300 to $500 guitars I owned 20 years ago before I could actually afford to buy an instrument of "supposedly" this caliber! Very disappointed Gibson! Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? The quality control department of Gibson must have been in on the "Government Shutdown" when mine rolled through the production lines! If I am the manager of QC with the Gibson....I'm firing the whole bunch of QC Inspectors! Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Nothing wrong with the neck, very pleased with the feel. Very smooth & fast! Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Tones are awesome. Only bad thing about that...the toggle switch is real staticky switching from pickup to pickup, so it's difficult to determine how the pups truly sound when dealing with that. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? No real complaints with the finish on the guitar, however, on the gold finish on the pups as well as the Lyre tail-piece there is what appears to be a foggy film that does not want to come off. It makes the gold finish look cloudy instead of brilliant & glossy like it should. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Nay, nay. This is my second high-end Gibson that I have purchased in the past few years and this is number two of what I feel is a real quality control issue! The other one was a Les Paul and that toggle switch in one position would not even pass the signal through so I sent that one back, which is exactly what I intend to do with this guitar. Playability How was the action out of the box? No complaints with the action, suitable for my tastes.
A real keeper!,,,
