Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Stunning out of the box, and equally impressive under close scrutiny: I got a high-quality instrument that plays like a dream! Reliability How has it stood up over time? Over the past 24 hours that I have owned this beauty it hasn't changed much... However it's a tried and true design and I believe it will stay reliable. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is my 4th Gibson within the last couple of years. I like them all, but this SG is affordable and because of its light weight and great neck, superior access to all frets -it's going to be with me for a long time. I am very pleased with the craftsmanship and the entire design, but honestly the playability is unreal! Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? A+ all the way for playability and feel! I feared that the body might be too light, but the SG just feels like a million bucks! Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? I'm still exploring the tones, but can already say that even with the factory strings still on, both the neck and the bridge pickups can scream, snarl, sing and sound entirely different than to my LesPaul. I'm still exploring the tonal capabilities with my favorite amps, but I like what I've been hearing so far. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Excellent finish (my color is Aged Cherry) without any flaws, bumps or runs. And yes, I have looked very very close! Action How was the action out of the box? Out of the box the action was just a little too high for my taste. The bridge was easy to adjust and now the action is UNREAL! I really love the fingerboard and the frets: If this is baked maple, I need the Gibson man to come over and bake all my Telecaster necks! This fingerboard is phantastic -feels just like Ebony but looks a lot like rosewood...Three cheers for baked maple!
Very bad finish! Looks like a used guitar!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? The quility is terrible! I purchased one from AMS.I got one in ebony. The entire body of the guitar is coverd with swirl marks. There is red stain on the binding of the neck. I contacted customer service they told me a LOT of them had been returned. It looks like a USED guitar. The lineing of the case is also tearing apart. DON'T buy one. I was amazed that customer service told me about all the problems. Don't waste your time and money. You pay alot for the name not the quility. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Bad finish out of the box! Overall Your general opinion of this product. Don't buy one Finish How did the stain or paint job look? It is horrible. Swirl and scratches. Case comeing apart
Stunning tonality and playability!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Beautifully crafted, assembled, and finished this instrument is a must-have for any serious guitarist. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Recently received the guitar so long-term information is not yet available. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Buy some extra dust cloths - for your Strat, because you'll put it down and seldom play it after playing this guitar. Being able to play perfectly to the very top frets, alone, makes this unique and opens tonal doors that are otherwise closed on many other guitars. Too much to mention but everything will come together for you the moment you start playing the SG. It's like buying a Bentley for substantially less money. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck for me feels a little thick but is very easy to adapt to and makes chording and playing leads actually easier than some of the smaller necks I've played (I have fairly long and thinner fingers). It feels fantastic, really. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? This is by far the most versatile guitar I've had in terms of tone. Huge and fat, without low-end mud, shimmering and shiny on the top without screechiness, great middle presence and everything in between. It's like eating a great gourmet meal - it leaves you very satisfied. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Beautiful fit and finish, with very good depth. Action How was the action out of the box? I have produced and engineered records for over 25 years so I am very fastidious about tuning and intonation. Out of the box it was close but I took the time to put D'Addario EXP110 0.10s on it and set it up with those strings. It intonated easily and has been very solid and stable since. String height was great and the action with these meaty frets makes playing both, bends, and playing in tune, very easy - truly great playability.
FREAKIN AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Another well made Gibson product. Reliability How has it stood up over time? All Gibsons age well. Overall Your general opinion of this product. Excellent. Gibson quality. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Medium neck, easy to fret and surprisingly the baked maple has a similar feel to ebony fingerboards. Gibson may be on to something here. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The baked maple board makes for a snappier sound. I like the combination of pickups, fingerboard material and mahogany. Sounds great clean or overdriven. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Cream lacquer was awesome with the crome hardware. The finish was perfect. Action How was the action out of the box? The Plek system makes out of the box action perfect but we all adjust for our personal tastes.
