Most AMAZING SOUND!
Quality:
This is truly a work of art that's for sure! It is unbelievably gorgous and at times I have a hard time picking it up for fear I will scratch it and take away some of it's beauty. But truly it is a tough guitar! I have played it each time with my rings on and it's not gotten a single scratch!
Sound:
This Gibson SG Standard has such an amazing, clean, clear, warm soulful sound. My guitar teacher was even blown away impressed with how good it sounds and he builds his own guitars!!
Reliability:
I have only owned this guitar for about a month, so far so good!
Overall:
This guitar has such a clean, polished perfectly constructed body and it is really gorgeous. Thin, light weight and an excellent choice for a female musician!
Playability and Feel:
This guitar is PERFECT for a woman or man with smaller hands! It is very light weight and it's neck is thinner than the traditional necks of most other guitars I have picked up such as the Fender line of guitars.
Tone:
This thing sounds amazing, it has stellar tone and I would say it is bright and smooth, with mellow pickups. This review isn't going to give this guitar justice I can not tell you how impressed that I am with the overall guitar. Gorgeous, light weight, superior high quality, AMAAAAZING SOUND and ease of playing. I would say all of those make a guitar that is hard to beat!
Finish:
This guitar is so shiny and gorgeously cured it is almost blinding with shine!

Playability and Feel:
I can't get over how light this guitar is. Makes my Les Paul feel like a grand piano around my neck.

The pickupsd are awesome. No low grade crap here. They can play mellow or bark very hard if ya want them to.

Quality:
I would think so.I don't think that Gibson QC would let one go.After all, this is Gibson we are talking about.Name says it all.As owner of one,YES,I'll vouch for it.%100
Sound:
This axe can play any type genre.I've seen blues, gospel, rock, country, and even jazz.
Reliability:
It depends where you live.Weather, temparature has affects on wood.So better learn how adjust the trust rod,if not get a pro to do it.But don't get me wrong this axe is built to last.
Overall:
This is a 2nd alternative to the SG custom that cost twice as much.
Playability and Feel:
I've played so many different brand of guitars in the past 35 years, Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, Washburn, PRS, Schecter, EVH, etc. Nothing felt more comfortable to play then my SG Standard. Then neck felt so contoured to hand that I did'nt realize that I was shredding at lightning speed. It felt that my SG was custom made for me and yet its one of a thousand out of the factory.I hit the jack pot.
Tone:
I like the warm sound when I am playing something slow and easy.Or that chunky sound for metal or that snappy bright sound texas blues.
Finish:
When I open the case for the first time.I can smell the fresh new paint, and wood grain. It smell like it just came out from the factory a minutes ago.color was beautiful the Heritage Cherry shine like it was buff like a custom Hot Rod in the car show.Let just say it talked to me...take me home baby...and plays all night long.
Action:
When I went to my local retailer. I got mine, still in box stapled shot.Ligt weight, neck felt very comfortable to play,I got lucky this guitar was set up the way I wanted. It was perfect from the moment I pick it up.

A classic, and with good reason
Quality:
Craftsmanship is top notch. You can tell the folks at Gibson take great pride in their work. Extremely pleased with the quality of this guitar.
Sound:
Tone is great. Clean tones are rich, distorted tones have alot of bite. Sustain for months.
Reliability:
I've only owned mine for a couple weeks but I'm in love with it. I don't know what has me more excited; playing this guitar for many years to come, or one day passing this guitar on to my son (or daughter).
Overall:
This guitar is great. There's a reason why guitar gods like Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Pete Townshend, and many many others play Gibson SG's.
Playability and Feel:
The neck feels great, feels just like my 60's Melody Maker. Not as fast as an Ibanez Wizard, but still feels very nice, I actually prefer the feel of this neck.
Tone:
The neck pickup sounds very warm and rich, the bridge pickup has a fat tone with alot of bite. Sounds great. Hard rock and metal are this guitar's forté.
Finish:
The ebony finish still looks wet. Excellent, couldn't be happier.

Action and intonation were set up perfectly. Needed a slight tuning, bit that was to be expected.

It sounds like an SG Standard. If you are a fan of rock and roll history, I don't need to tell you what that means. Plugged straight into my Vox amp, it sounds awesome.
Reliability:
It will stand up just fine, since I treat it like a baby.

I was a bit leery of the D&S, but with a 45-day return policy figured I had nothing to lose. I and my guitar techs could not find a thing wrong with this guitar- even the case was fine! And saved $150 from full retail- great deal...
Playability and Feel:

Quality:
Seems like a solid built guitar, and should last a life time with a little bit of care.
Sound:
Good Tone, I will not change pickups.
Reliability:
It is built more solid then what some will have you belive. A very solid build in my opinion.
Overall:
This is a highly underrated Guitar in my opinion. While they advertise this guitar as having a 1950 type neck, do not confuse this with the Les Paul Studios 1950 baseball bat size neck. The SG actually has it's very own neck heritage and is not Baseball bat size at all. In fact it actually is a very comfortable and fast riffing neck in my opinion.
Playability and Feel:
Fast playing neck. As I said before this is not a baseball bat size neck. It actually is similar to the Les Paul 1960 neck. But just the same, it is it's own distinctive neck size.
Tone:
Good sounding to me.
Finish:
Good the Neck was A+. But I question being able to see the wood grain structure thru the body finish on my Black SG standard. Maybe they are all like this? It is no big deal as the Guitar looks good. But the finish on the body is different from the finish on the neck.
Action:
A little high for me out of the box. But a little bit of truss rod adjustment, and a lowering of the strings, and she became a good playing keeper for me.

This guitar is quite possibly the worst thing I have ever bought. I play alot of def leppard and this just does not fit. The sound is way to dull for any of def leppard's songs. I thought gibson would have done better or even worse american musical would even sell it. I will be sticking to my jackson pc1.

Everything's good on it. No complains about it other than checking if you got a volume cut somewhere in knobs that control the pickups.

The bridge humbucker is kinda weak on the cleans, but on distortion it kills with a very vintage sharp sound. The neck humbucker gives excellent, complete, and huge sounding cleans. For distortions it sounds huge and fat. It's my favorite pickup! Using both at the same time, it gives a good sound, but I feel it lacks something sometimes.

I have mine since Feb 2006, now is 2009, and it doesn't have a dent on it. The bridge humbucker volume cutted somewhere volume 7 to 10; but a man fixed that problem for me.
Overall:
Tremendous guitar for any genre. I have it on Heritage Cherry since 2006, and every time I played or recorded with it, it has always giving me a knockout killer sound and attitude.
Playability and Feel:
The guitar is light, and I recommend it for all that have bad backs, broken ribs or any condition that limits you from playing a heavy instrument. The neck is a little wide, but it's a love if you like to bend a lot. As I said before, if you feel it strange...send it to a pro!
Tone:
The wood gives quite a dark sound compared to alder, but is a lot better since everything sounds huge, powerful and fat (still not like a Gibson Les Paul). The humbuckers work the same way I said on the sound section in this review.
Finish:
Absolutely amazing! I have it on Heritage Cherry and it is a work of art that I love to death! My guitar is kinda dark colored, compared to the one in the pics on the site, but I don't care because it rocks even more to my eyes, and the spectators eyes.
Action:
Weird. It has a wide neck, and kinda bigger frets space, than a strat. But you'll get it right fast. If you feel it high or strange, send it to a pro to adjust it for you. This is a NO SHRED guitar so you won't get your action very low, even so is a good guitar. No excuses if you're a true guitar player!

Quality:
A Very well made product, I will be able to count on it for a long, long time.
Sound:
The tone is great! similiar to a les paul but not as thick and bluesy, works great for the flat tunings that a les paul might not be as good at, being such a fat sound.
Reliability:
brand new but I'm sure it will last a life time
Overall:
Very well made instrument, typical of Gibson.
Playability and Feel:
Feels great, not as fast as a 60's neck Les Paul but pretty close. Nice and light.
Tone:
I'm so used to a Les Paul that the tone sounds pretty bright, but not as bright as a strat of course, it's kinda an in between guitar.
Finish:
The finish is great just as you would expect from a Gibson
Action:
the action was perfect didn't have to mess with it at all which is nice

My go to guitar!!
Quality:
Extremely high quality. I've had my eye on a SG for many years and couldn't wait any longer. Everything on the guitar is exceptional. Not a flaw.
Reliability:
I can see this guitar lasting a lifetime if treated right. Even a gold bar can be destroyed but if polished and cared for, it will outshine most.
Overall:
Like i said, I waited a long time to get this guitar and thought I'd be afraid to play it but I can't put it down. It feels and sounds amazing! This is my main player and I have a LP Standard, which I love, and a V, which was my main guitar before this one. Its a museum piece that your allowed to play with!! How can you beat that.
Playability and Feel:
The neck is the best feature on this guitar. Extremely comfortable and fast. The weight is lighter then most guitars but once you strap it on you wonder why in the world you broke your back all those years. Superb!
Tone:
Did I say the neck was the best feature? I meant the 498T! what a perfect pickup for me. This baby's going in my LP now as well. The Pros are nice but this thing just shines. Might put the Pros in my v because lets face it, the 500 is just a toy. The 498T is the best treble pickup my ears have heard in a while. Perfect for my style.
Finish:
Not a flaw.
Action:
Right out of the box perfect. Haven't changed a thing. A hats off to American Musical for everything they provide us with! Great prices and great plans. Nobody else comes close!
