General What is your overall opinion of this product? IF THIS GUITAR IS THE SAME SIZE OF MY G22GRETCH DOUBLE CUT AWAY THEN YOU CAN USE A LARGE ACCOUSTIC GUITAR CASE
Great Guitar!

What is your overall opinion of this product? I love it! I had wanted a 12 string electric forever. Finally, I was able to get one. I wanted the Gibson but really couldn't fit it into my budget. I was leery--I hate to buy a guitar that I haven't played, first but AMS said I could send it back, no questions asked, for another until I got one that suited me. The first one was fine, however, and I had no serious complaint. I did have some frustration that AMS didn't know what case fits it; then AMS didn't stock it (Whoa, Whoa, what about the other review with a case MIRACLE?) and not even the techs knew that besides the proper 12 string case Gretsch intends, the case for the equivalent 335 style fits it with a tiny bit to spare at the headstock. AMS dropped the ball here--it is INEXCUSABLE that a major musical company CANNOT/WILL NOT have the appropriate case available, or even any knowledge about it!!! (AMS put some techs in the Warehouse where they can give us hands-on answers!!! Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? The quality is high. At first I was thinking Gretsch is still American Made. I found out before my purchase that at least my model is made in South Korea. I couldn't have known that by examining the guitar, though. No shortcuts or cut corners that I can tell. This guitar is highly suitable for multi-genre work; fine for rock, country, bluegrass, jazz, folk, you name it...but not thrashy death metal.I've been playing lotsa Zeppelin, Byrds, Ton Petty as well as my originals. If this guitar isn't perfect, I'll probably never know what perfect is. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The feel is great. Like I said, I was leery over a mail order guitar, but I just couldn't find a 12 string locally that either wasn't too low of quality or too high for my budget, so either I wasn't getting one or I was getting one mail order, that's it. The Master volume is in an odd spot, but I have a volume pedal if I want to do some volume swells. Not a serious issue for me. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? With the tone all the way up, or close, on the treble end, this guitar is super chimey (as good as any tele I have played) and jangly. I have always been a "distortion" player, but this thing is so awesome on clean settings (with the right tube amp) I haven't even wanted to try it yet, and I've been playing this guitar a couple hours a day for about a week now. Sometime I might try it... I wouldn't call the pickups hot or thick, but mellow and smooth. This is not a high gain heavy metal guitar. Very suitable if you want bright, chimey jangly sounds like I was after. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Fantastic. High Quality wood-work. Couldn't expect better. Wish I could protect it with a case though! Why is AMS making me get one elsewhere??? Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? No-one goes lower in price than AMS. Of course I wish all guitars cost under $100, but they simply don't. Fair for the market. Playability How was the action out of the box? Now here is a minor but frustrating issue. I was ready to get to work on a setup, but was pleasantly surprised to find that this guitar had good action and was properly setup as well as I could like it...BUT I noticed a piece of foam tissue underneath the floating bridge. I'm sure it was there for shipping reasons, but I can't imagine, (with the string tension the bridge isn't going anywhere) how shipping would move the bridge and mar the finish without some other greater damage being done. So I could have had a perfect setup, except I had to undo it to get the foam out! Tell the truth I thought about just leaving it in! But that wouldn't look acceptable at all. So, I had to undo a perfect setup and then fiddle with it to get it right again. I am sure Gretsch did this and not AMS, but I wish they hadn't--it seems pointless and made me ruin a perfect setup and have to fiddle with it for hours. Bridges should have some kind of guide in all cases rather than 100% float.

General What is your overall opinion of this product? Just the Best! I called back a day after I ordered for a case I forgot to order. The next day the Guitar arrived (Saturday). It was packed in case. It is a beautiful Guitar. Started playing Byrd's songs got wife going. Couldn't stop playing. Love this guitar and I have owned a lot of them just sold my 65 anniversary on eBay and still have 69 Viking but I think I am going to sell it. This is an amazing company they out do all the all the competition. Buy with confidence. I was just amazed that they knew the proper case and let me pay over time. Still in shock that I have the guitar in hand two days after ordering and modifying my order a day after order and next both items arrived. Just the best what can I say. I just have to buy more. Jon Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? Awesome Guitar It is a twelve string so limited versatility. But necessary for certain music. Feel Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Light with great action smooth touch and very bright tone, loud as are most 12 string's and very comfortable with double cutaway you can easily reach the entire fret board. Tone How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin? Magic! Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Beautiful! Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Deal! Playability How was the action out of the box? Fantastic!

General Your general opinion of this product. At a time when money's still tight for a lot of us, it's great to know that good, solid instruments are available at a reasonable price. This Electromatic 12-string is a prime example. Fit, finish, and playability are all superb - the more so considering the $700 price tag. This axe will be used for my next CD as well as for live use. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Detailing is excellent, and the feel is solid. Bindings, fret markers, and frets are all well fit. I have to believe this instrument will wear extremely well over time. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Pickups are not 'hot' - meaning, very mellow, and not huge output. Swapping them for something a little stronger is probably the only additional 'tweak' I'd perform (down the road). Finish How did the stain or paint job look? I ordered mine in Black, and it looks 'sweet'. No blemishes that I can detect. Very smooth, glossy finish. Metal work is all perfect.
