Remo makes amazing heads, so many that it's hard to find what's right for yourself. I use these for hard hitting rock and metal. I find the emperor x (a standard for those genres) have the same punch as these but a lot more ring. I get that ring should not be avoided completely which is why I choose these over the empX. They both have punch, and a lot of it, but the powerstroke has just enough ring to cut through the mix. It makes your rimshots sound so.... boom boom pow

I took this head out of the box the day it came to my door, Installed it, and tuned it with my tuner. I played a bit on the snare and it sounds so awesome.. 100% better than the old heads on the drum set.. So now I am gonna have to change more heads.. That's how good I think these heads are... Thanks American.
