Product Review I purchased a matched quad set of these tubes from American Musical Supply to use in my 135 watt vintage silver face Fender Twin Reverb amp. I also use these same tubes in my vintage Fender Dual Showman amp, and have experienced very good results with the Groove Tube "Russian" made tubes. Groove Tube does not actually manufacture tubes. Other manufactures such as (Sovetec/Electro Harmonix) does, which is a Russian based company with a great deal of experience in making amplifier tubes, which is why I chose the Grove Tube "R" series vacuum tubes. These are basically the same as the 5881 vacuum tubes, but are matched in the GT system. From my understanding, Fender actually owns Grove Tube, and hence, puts the Grove Tube name on some of the tubes, as well as the Fender Logo. Other companies such as Ruby do this as well, even though they don't actually make amplifier tubes. However, my personal experience with Ruby branded tubes has never been good. American Music Supply provides the Russian made 6L6 tubes in a medium power rating (i.e. 6 or 7) The tubes I received have a 6 rating. Personally speaking I would prefer a higher rating in the 8 to 10 range, but that's because the Fender Twin Reverb and Fender Dual Showman amps were designed to provide very clean power, even when pushed hard at high volume levels with very little to no distortion/over drive, which is as a steel guitarist, that's exactly what I want. Despite the medium range of these particular tubes, I found them to perform well even when pushed to high volume ranges, and they are very reliable as well. When I received these Grove Tubes, the first thing I did was test them on my tube testing meter, and they all registered a solid "91 to 93" on the test scale with no grid loss, which is exceptionally good! I have since installed them in my vintage Fender Twin, as so far, all is very good with these particular tubes. Here again, I believe these GT tubes are actually made by Sovtec/New Sensor, and I have had very good experience with the Sovtec tubes as well. I expect such will be the same with these Groove Tube branded tubes. My only complaint is that AMS doesn't offer higher range number selections for these tubes. I have also used Groove Tube branded tubes in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with very different results. But then again, it's a very different tube driven amplifier. It's really a "to each their own" sort of thing in tube brand preferences. These Groove Tubes happen to work great for me for my particular applications.
