What is your overall opinion of this product?
This Guild jumbo is an excellent buy. The tone is big and balanced. Plays very well. It is well finished. It's a piece of art!
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Time will tell of course, but it certainly seems to be well made. The finish is flawless. The feel is very friendly and the sound makes me reluctant to put it down...
Was it easy to reach the strings? How comfortable was the playing position?
Is the tone well balanced? How does it project?
The tone was a little jangly due to the new strings. Got it tuned after its trip to WY and it settled down nicely. The tone is balanced, the volume is just right for vocal accompaniment. Projection is excellent. Taking it to practice tonight!
How did the stain or paint job look?
Beautiful! It is a very attractive guitar. No blemishes, fish-eyes or signs of anything other than a mirror finish. I think I could shave myself looking in there! (Probably won't tho)
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
The value is exceptional. It's a third of the American made jumbo. This guitar is a serious contender for serious musicians at about a third of the price of comparable Gibsons, Martins and Taylors.
How was the action out of the box?
The action out of the box was fine too. I might lower the strings at the nut a bit since I like a "critical" action. But it's right in the ball-park as is. I may not do anything, but I like to tinker with my instruments...
