Good Guitar - plugged in
By: Terry from Michigan
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The workmanship is flawless. It's a handsome guitar. The truss rod needed a nudge. I question just what the top is made of. It's advertised as solid mahogany. And although is matches the sides and back perfectly, the top is somehow different feeling. I like the look though.
How has it stood up over time?
I've only had it 2 days. I like it.
Your general opinion of this product.
I'd surely buy this again. I played it the first night through an amp and the sound is gorgeous. UNplugged, the tone is nice, but a little quieter and not so rich. Well, maybe that's due to the 'mahogany' top.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck is a hair wider than most guitars. It's a wonderful feel. Fits like a glove. This is my favorite feature. The nut and bridge are at the perfect height, you can check this with the built in tuner. Great feel.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Unplugged the sound seems thin and not loud. It just doesn't 'pop out' like I thought it might. Still, it's louder acoustically than my voice, so no problem really. Plugged in, it's a different story. It's heaven. The lack of ringing and overtones I heard UNplugged turned into a glorious, clear, sparkling, musical treat through an amp.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Everyone likes it. Really likes it. So do I. It's not a glossy guitar, it's a low lustre that's nice and will never show fingerprints. The binding and all little details are A+.
How was the action out of the box?
The action was OK, but I followed the included instructions and used the included allen wrench to give the truss rod a slight crank. The neck straightened out and everything felt good. Out of the box, the neck was concave and I could feel it. Easily remedied though.
