Sounds great - but good luck tuning.

I have 5 guitars, from Strats to Teles and Takamine and Martin acoustics. I have played for 40 years. This guitar won't stay in tune. I know how to wrap string posts, etc etc, I have strung and tuned many guitars thousands of times. Particularly the G, B and E strings - yuck! Will be replacing tuners to see if it helps. It's too bad - sounds great on stage but I am tuning during songs and my band mates have never seen me have to do that!

Great Guitar with Beautiful Tone BUT

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The quality of this guitar feels as good as more expensive guitars in it's class. All of these are some kind of laminate, etc. so I don't think it's fair to compare the quality of wood, etc. against anything other than it's rivals.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
This guitar feels like it's made well with quality parts BUT!!!!!! I've had mine for 3 days and the neck pickup just went out on me this morning. SO I'll be taking it back to GC or sending it back to the MFR. Sucks, because that pickup is the real beauty.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
I don't think that my failed pickup is the norm or that it means the quality of the instrument is subpar. I think overall this is a phenomenal guitar for the price and I will be getting mine fixed (I don't even want it replaced, just fixed). I wouldn't let it deter you from buying, I just wanted to share my experience so new buyers have as much info as possible.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Excellent. You can't shred like a super low action solid body, but you can still move pretty darn fast and it feels great. The guitar is not heavy to me at all. It doesn't feel like carrying a cinderblock like les paul.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Both pickups are bright in their own way... that neck pickup is just killer, but both are good esp. with the right amp/settings. After market upgrades down the line already have me smiling, but I'm going to play these stock pickups until I grow tired of them. Can't see it happening just yet.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Killer. This vintage ivory look is really sweet BUT why not go with black pickguard to have some contrast??? I'll be changing mine to black and am confident it'll look better, but the guitar still looks great as is. It is a real eye catcher.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Great. It's not like my PRS setup for 9's, but it is perfect for rockabilly.

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
It is very well made. Like I noted above, my first impression was that it would be about $1000, and when I played it, I was sure it would be more than what it actually was. For $499, you better believe that it is worth every cent, and double. I would buy another in a heartbeat. I was prepared to buy a much more expensive guitar, but when I played this, I was sold, even before I knew the price.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Fairly new, but it is built very well. I can see this holding up for years. Not a flaw in the finish, no buzzing, no problems. I play it every day and gig at least once a week if not more, and not even a broken string.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
This was not the guitar I was looking for when I went into the store, but it was the one I came out with, and I am the most picky, fussy instrument buyer there is. I was going to buy a Sheraton, but this caught my eye, and I played them side by side. A little bit different than what I had in mind to buy, but I am glad I did. I put the Sheraton back on the rack, and this one came home for the holidays.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Neck is a bit wide, but I am used to a strat. This has a completely different feel, but I got used to it in about an hour. Controls are a little difficult to reach on the 'fly' because of the tremolo arm, but all in all, positioned fairly well. It is also heavier than it looks. Nice piece of wood. Feels solid. Once I got used to the action, I was able to fly up and down the neck with ease.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The tone is everything you could want. I have been playing pro for 35 years, with 43 years of playing experience. I tried to play a bit of everything, and got the sounds I wanted with no effects other than overdrive on my amp. Tone can be bright and snappy like country or bluegrass, and then with a flick of my overdrive, and the tone backed off, I got that 'Purple Haze' tone. This is incredible. No one would expect a jazz box looking guitar to play 'Alice in Chains' in one song, and Beer Barrel Polka in another, with the same guitar. You have to hear to believe.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Paint and finish caught my eye immediately. There was no price tag on this one, so I assumed it was in the $1000.00 range. That is how beautiful the finish is. Pictures do NO justice. It is more of a cream color than bright white. The gold hardware sets off the cream color beautifully, and it just exudes that 'classy' aura. Much nicer in person than on the web site pics. Binding, frets, inlays all done to perfection. Not a flaw seen anywhere. Even that dumb looking lightening bolt on the headstock doesn't look bad in person. Looks worse in the photo, but in person, it actually looks good. Had to buy a lightning bolt strap to go with it. Wife thinks its cool. Rosewood neck is smooth and silky.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was a wee bit high, but the sound and intonation are so good, I'll leave as is, just so I am sure to keep the same sound I have now. I'm used to electrics like Strats and Pauls, so this is a little different, slightly higher action. So I may not be the best to judge that question. But it feels pretty good, even for this old man with arthritis...and 43 years of playing experience.
