It's very surprising that you can get this quality for this price.

Ibanez is a guitar brand that's known for their great guitars at a great price. I bought this to start playing electric and it feels great to play. If you want a good electric guitar but don't want to break the bank, think about picking this up or any of Ibanez's other guitars.

The GRX was fun to play. The pickups sounded great! The fretboard was very easy to play on. For the price I paid I would recommend this! I bought this for a friend and played on this axe for about an hour and really enjoyed it! Great beginners guitar.

This is my third guitar and still learning to play. The Gio Ibanez GXR 20z caught my eye and I said it is very affordable so lets give it a try. Wow! I was so impressed with the style and playability for under $150.00! I have my "go to" guitar a Les Paul but I like the heck out of this Ibanez. This guitar is fun to play around with. If you are thinking on giving it a try I say go for it! I am now an Ibanez fan. Also, I love the customer service at AMS always there when you need them. Win Win situation!

I have wrote reviews before and do not have this model of this guitar. This does seem like a very nice guitar but i have one question that is on my mind. I have the GRG 150GIO that is also the jewel blue, but why is there another jewel blue that i did not know about? If i would have known about it, i would have got this color of blue. I do like mine of that blue, but it is a darker jewel blue. If the light hits it a certain way it almost looks black in color. I only thought their was one kind of jewel blue and i would rather have this blue instead of the darker one. Oh well, i was just wondering of the two different blue of this model and my GRG 150 GIO. I am going to keep the one i have and it plays and sounds terrific. Would not trade it for a different one anyway.

Again, it's a price point. If you're expecting Prestige or Joe Satriani quality, you might be disappointed. But if you're looking for an inexpensive starter guitar, this is a great choice!
I have owned several Ibanez guitars, and they are great guitars! I have yet to have any problems with any of them.

It's a price point. You can't expect this guitar to play like a JS1200. But for an inexpensive guitar, these are hard to beat. The guitar did require some set-up when I received it. It was barely playable out of the box, which is why I only gave it 3 stars for playability. But after some adjustments the guitar plays fairly well. I bought the guitar as a gift for my nephew who was 12 years old. This is a great beginner guitar!
Thin, fast neck. The guitar plays easy once set up properly.
bright and snappy. Great for heavy rock/metal.
Nice finish
Out of the box, it was a little rough. There was some fret buz, and the neck needed some adjustment. If you buy this guitar, I would highly recommend taking it to a guitar shop for proper set-up. I didn't care for the strings that came on the guitar either. I'd recommend some Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009 -.042.

Overall it is made very well. The only issue I have is that the input jack was screwed after only a few plugs. Other than that it was great.
This thing has been beaten up over and over. It is not my main, but I do use it for my power sets.

I have been playing for 12 years and have used some top name and price products. I was shocked that such a low price guitar could pack so much sound.
The pick-ups are great. Very light, perfect size and has a great form to the body.
I am a metal guy and it has great sustain. I was able to slide perfectly, but the lower neck gets a bit tight.
The paint was awesome. It can withstand some bumps and bangs.
Rocked and ready to go.

This is a really sturdy guitar. if someone wanted to, the could probably go years with it.
The only problem I've had with this guitar is the tone knob coming loose.

The guitar is good for beginners, but as you go on you will grow it out.
The neck isn't the best on the market.. it is pretty thick.. and some deeper scallops would be nice to get to the 20-22 frets.
bridge PU is nice and bright and the neck pickup is nice and mellow, just how they should be.
jewel blue paint looks nice.. looks better than the one in the picture
Just pick it up out of the box plug it in and play..

its a very nice guitar for the first time guitarist. its has all the features that a new player would need or want.
I have owned mine for a few moths, it played great for a while, but recently, i have been using i a lot and playing it hard, well it has slowly been going down and tonight at a band rehearsal, it died. the pickups just completely quit on me... not good when our next show is in 3 days!

overall if you are learning to play and just starting out, not planing on playing it hard and often, it is a great guitar!
its a perfect weight, the pickup switch it a little misplaced so you may hit it while strumming. replace the strings with some nice Elixer Strings and your good to go with it. the neck is very smooth, and the frets are great!
the tone is no bad, it can pull of a nice hold out on a note and doesnt shake the note too much. its not bad.
i wish it came in a more original color scheme...
right outta the box, as i have said before, was great for the aspiring artist, or hobbyist. it needs some better strings so if you buy it invest in some new strings while your at it.

Ok, I am reviewing this as a beginners guitar as I guess most people who buy it will be. Also as I am a beginner I am relying on a friend who has played a while for comments. For the price, this is a very good quality guitar. As good as you will get for the money anywhere I think.
Cant say yet but Ibanez is a well known brand with a good rep so I guess it will do well. It looks like it should.

Excellent value and possibly the best beginner electric out there. I did some research before I bought and my friend who owns more expensive guitars was impressed when he saw it. Unlike some of the other big brands, Ibanez are happy to put their name even on their cheaper guitars. To me that is a sign that they are confident in the quality of their entire range, not just the top of the line models. Bottom line is - If you are a beginner, this is a great starter guitar for a great price and with all the features you need. You would have to pay a lot more to get a significantly better guitar.
Good. Probably excellent considering its price range. Do remember that I am a beginner though so I dont have any basis of comparison. Im happy though.

Now this is where I am really impressed. Out of the box it was still almost in tune (only 2 strings needed a slight tweak). Thats despite shipping in a cardboard box and with an old-fashioned Trem that I know has a reputation for not keeping tune as well as a fixed or FL bridge. Im a beginner so action is not something I have any basis for camparison on but it came set up well and not needing any adjustments.

The neck of this thing looks raw feels like it was just sanded and nothing to protect the wood, but you could use my old guitar as a mirror because it's sooo shiny.

QUALITY:
This is the absolute best guitar I've ever purchsed in this price range, as well as being much better quality than quite a few of the more expensive guitars I've had over the years.
Over the past few years, I've become more and more impressed with the quality control by Ibanez.
FEATURES:
No problems with this guitar. Has a very nice feel and finish. I bought jewell blue(purple).
The only thing I would recommend is that eventually, the nut should be changed out, but it will play just fine right out of the box.
Frets were in very good shape.
EASE OF USE:
Pretty decent action. Nice feel in the body and neck. Trem is just a tad on the stiff side but it works well, and you can push it down 'til the strings flop, and then bring it back and it will stay in tune.
VALUE:
It's a terrific value. You be realy surprised at just how great this thing looks and plays, and sounds. Ibanez has done a nice thing here.

Most musicians would take one look at a guitar costing only $150 and then turn their noses up. In most cases, they're totally justified; after all, with most guitars, you get what you pay for. However, even a pro musician could do far worse than pick up Ibanez's GRX-20Z.
When compared to other Ibanezes, it definitely looks like the low end. It's not an ugly guitar...just rather unremarkable. However, it's in the sound department that the GRX-20Z shines. The two humbuckers sustain forever, especially with a good distortion. Tonally, it excels in most departments. Visually and sonically, it's perfect for your blues gigs, but crank up the gain and you have yourself a FINE metal axe. With a slight chorus, you have a guitar that sounds delicate like crystal. The neck, although it's also a low-end Ibanez, is still quite nice, although the frets may need to be filed.
Yes, it's a barebones guitar. But it's still an Ibanez. If you're low on funds (like most working musicians),

QUALITY:
This is a very well made guitar. When i pulled it out of the box, it looked so beautiful I just couldn't wait to plug it in. I haven't had any problems with any of the parts.
EASE OF USE:
I'm a beginner and in my opinion this guitar is ridiculously easy to use. I am amazed at quick I can learn a song, and play it just like it sounds on record.
VALUE:
This guitar is definately worth the price. I'd say it's worth a lot more. Great for any level guitarist.
SOUND:
Sound is great, with the proper amp+effects, you can get any sound you want. The only minor problem is if you play in drop C tuning (cgcfad) you get an occasional fret buzz, but i never notice it coming through my amp.
