Product Rating Product Review Love this smaller version of this 5 string bass. Lighter to play and gives you the same action as the original. It’s worth the price.

Product Review The look and tone is great, but the controls leave me scratching my head. Turning both volumes down, the bridge pickup is still on (sounds like it’s set around 2 on a proper volume knob? Neck pickup doesn’t have this issue. Tone knob does a little shaping, but then does a massive amount below 3. Maybe I got a bad example, but look out for that.

Product Review Will fit in a Strat case, nice weight (not toy like). Good tone and sustain. Needed bass for metal tracks that had clarity and could work both clean and with distortion. Also, Ibanez makes coated strings that many say sound better that the stock set that already sounds great for about $18! Very comfortable to sit and work on projects with. As other have said needs intonation work out of the box. The very comfortable bridge saddles have blind holes so the factory screws are a bit long. Used a dremel tool to cut a few about 3/16-14 shorter to get enough back travel. This worked very well, oddly all saddles lined up almost straight with a slight stair step pattern you'd expect (used a strobe tuner). Radius set well, may raise the Low B up just a bit is all. Neck is narrower, about 1.75 at nut. Feels like holding a guitar. Picking hand rests in the sweet spot naturally. Fret ends cut back and ends filled with wood filler to prevent sharp edges (nice touch!). Very nice almost piano like tone and great sustain. Nut very well cut. Could replace stick pickups with other Jazz Bass 5 but out of the box, it gets the job done. Single coils humbuck when both used at same volume. Nice tone variety can be dialed in. I consider this a hidden gem for recording guitar player doing long hours at the desk. Just feels great to hold and play on. For the price this is just an insanely good value. Quality way higher than anticipated. Once in a while a piece of gear comes along that you just feel like was a really great purchase. Been playing guitar 30+ years and this bass hits it out of the park for my needs. Very happy with this purchase. Thank you Ibanez and AMS.

Product Review I picked up this little bass because my extended scale 5 string Ibanez BTB was painful to play after some shoulder issues. I selected it because it was priced well, was one of the short/medium scale basses I remember liking in a store last year (pre-isolation -- sorry retail but circumstances), and, did I mention it was really inexpensive? == As a five string bass I had some concerns about the tone and flabby string potential, but this plays great and sounds as good as my main 5 string. Actually, while it's not as versatile as the active setup in my BTB, it stacks up well and it's not a tonal downgrade to swap for this bass. As delivered, the action is fine, a hair high for what I like but humidity plays a role there, and the nut feels and measures out as being right. The fretwork is good, with no adjustments required. == The electronics are why this bass gets docked a star. The pots are ALPHAs, which is ok at this price point (did I mention this bass was not expensive), but the bridge volume pot is not smooth and is irritating. The configuration is volume volume tone, and there's nothing wrong with that, but since I have one iffy pot, I'm going to rewire it as volume balance tone. The electronics are almost silent, with the cavity well painted with shielding paint and cavity cover lined with shielding material (standard metalized backing). The output jack feels good and looks quality. == All in all I would buy this again as a gift, and it's a great base bass to modify ;) -- I'm thinkin' blackout tuners, bridge, and knobs eventually.

Product Review I play short scale & wanted a 5-string but didn't want to spend too much. Having played Ibanez full scale basses I know their quality so figured I'd risk the $200. No risk at all. Greatly exceeded expectations. Solid, a flawless finish & smooth neck. First thing I checked were the frets, as I've seen some inexpensive basses with fret issues. The frets were level with not a sharp edge to be found. This bass is a joy to play. Has good tone & is fast due to the 28.6" scale. Two minor quibbles: 1) wish it had color options like the 4-string Mikro (the transparent red is killer); 2) I'm not a big fan of round wounds & these may be the 'clangiest' I've heard. However, this little bass is so good I see a set of La Bella SS flat wounds in the very near future.

Product Review I thoroughly enjoyed the 4 string version and decided to take a chance on the 5. I didn't expect a 'B' string this short would work and, for the price, would have been satisfied with something to practice with at home. I WAS WRONG. I have already been gigging with this bass. 8 out of 5 stars for value. The electronics are surprisingly good but not 5 stars. At this price point, one could upgrade the pickups and still make out like a bandit.

Product Review This is my second Mikro five string, purchased as a backup for the first one. I actually play this one more due to the jatoba fretboard, which has a harder feel and tighter grain than rosewood. Great tuning stability, excellent intonation out of the box, and very versatile J pickups make this bass a winner. If only Ibanez would make a fretless version of this bass!!!! The bass came packaged well protected and on time from AMS. Thank you!!!!

Product Review this bass has proved to be a beast in its own right. Price was right and I got way more than i expected in tonality and low end punch. I've been running it out of a 60 watt Behringer amp at practices that gives me enough with the guitar's tone to keep up with two loud half stack guitar amps.

Product Review I bought this bass as a practice instrument. My Carvin Walnut LB75's are heavy. It was so comfortable to play I thought I'd use it on a gig. I first used it in an acoustic quartet in a cramped pub setting. It's small footprint was a joy and it kept up just fine with the B string sounding pretty solid. Ok I said ....I'll take it to the blues jam Sunday night. Again it did a surprising job pushing a full band. The bassists in the house were as amazed as I that it sounded so full. After passing that test I took it out for a full band gig. Rockin blues. Kick ass drummer, keys , guitar and the Mikro. Passed the test. Didn't feel the need to yank out the Carvin once. Ok it's a cheap little sucker but it plays fine and sounds good. Maybe the little bass will catch on and manufactures will come out with more sophisticated models. Until then the Mikro is in my gig bag.

Product Review I gave it 5stars because for 200 bucks its a good deal.not a toy guitar at all. I got it for my nephew's birthday. Now i want one. Better than Any 80s $200 guitars ever were. Even ibanez. I did have to set it up better for a kid and adjust the tone alittle but very good guitar. For the price? Go for it.

Product Review I play a lot of short scale basses, and I currently own two 4-string Mikros (one to mod), a Ubass, a Squier Jag and a Hofner Shorty. I wanted a 5-string bass, but after ESP stopped making theirs, I couldn't find one with a shorter scale till I came across the Mikro. I couldn't find one in a store, and was concerned about string buzz, as the scale is only 28.6", but decided to order one for my birthday. I needn't have worried as my Mikro 5 has less buzz than my other short scales. It also has a rich tone that I actually like. It's fun to play, with decent string tension considering its scale length. Finish was perfect, neck was smooth. And more good news is that Fodera currently makes a set of strings specifically designed for this bass (go figure!). I did have to dial in a little neck relief via the truss rod to get the bass to its buzz-free state. That didn't surprise me, as for the past year or so whenever I try Ibanez basses, they seem to have less n I couldn't be happier!
