Nothing beats the ergonomics and inherent playability of a wizard neck!!!

Japanese Ibanez guitars rival every other guitar manufacturer world wide ..This cannot be debated or contested.. Attention to detail is phonominal in all aspects..But the greatest attribute of a Japanese Ibanez guitar is it's playability which is not even remotely matched by other manufacturers...

So close to being perfect!

Product Review
Overall, it's a very comfy guitar but unfortunately, this wasn't for me. I was hoping the neck was going to feel like the Japanese super wizard neck but that didn't turn out to be the case. Even though it's only 1mm difference in thickness, it just doesn't have the same feel of the super wizard neck.
That goes for the rest of the guitar as well. Don't get me wrong, it comes very close to the Prestige models and still plays better than most guitars out there but for the price, I was expecting more. If you're not picky like me however, this will be an awesome guitar and you'll love it.
The neck is still very slim & flat, fretwork was perfect, pickups sound heavenly (you can get all the sparkly, dirty and twangy tones) and the Edge-zero II trem is almost as good as the original Edge. Don't worry about the last few frets not being scalloped like the JEM7VWH because you'll still be able to shred on it. You'll also be using the monkey grip handle more than you realize because it's so comfy to move the guitar around with. No case, just a gig bag but it still comes with the handy Ibz tool.
I was really bummed out because I wanted one for so long but now I'm just gonna have to wait for the RG550 models to be back in stock. As long as you don't expect this to feel like the Japanese models, you won't regret getting this guitar.

Product Review
Once again the folks at American Musical delivered my guitar unbelievably fast! At the same time I ordered a ORS guitar stand which arrived at the same time; amazing!
Steve Vai writes that this is his favorite guitar and I can see why. It is rapidly becoming my favorite as well! It looks fantastic and with a minor adjustment is quite easy to play. That is, the factory setup is okay but a bit on the high side. The good news is that the guitar comes with its own set of tools. So, making adjustments is a breeze! By turning each of the adjustment screws about 1 1/2 turns clockwise, the action is quite exceptional (recommended values are in the accompanying manual).
I would highly recommend both the guitar and American Musical!

A glorified RG! Get a J custom instead. I was never a fan of Jems but for artsy collections I did it. I might try a different Jems but I'd prefer a Sabre over this.

I ordered this one on a whim when they had a minor blemish. I really like it and the setup, right out of the box. The trem is really great, better than the woody jem I bought several years ago. The ONLY very minor thing I don't care for about the guitar is the bridge pickup. It's a little quiet compared to most of the bridge pickups I'd typically use, but that is just personal taste, and it's very easy to replace! I'd really recommend it. It's an absolute pleasure to play.

I have had this for almost a year.very nice guitar. action is comfortable.setup from ams was nice but had to adjust intonation slightly.sounds good with pretty much any style i want to try.this guitar is meant to be abused with whatever you want to throw at it. stays in tune nicely and sounds great with or without effects. I would recommend to anyone with whatever style music they like.

Needs lots of setup. All the tuners post nuts were loose and rattling and needed to be tightened, definitely a QC issue. Action was really no where near shredabilty. Also white dust under the pickguard which is a little unsightly due to the clear acrylic used. Probably not for a newby unless you “know a guy“ or want to pay to get a setup. All that said with proper set up and tweaks it’s a pretty good guitar that stays in tune, sounds good, looks great and plays really good. I’m gonna keep it.

Ibanez Jem 77P BFP. The Potential is There...

Product Review
My name is Justin And I’m a 54 year old guitarist residing in Charlottesville Virginia.
Life long musician and privileged to have jammed with several of the great musicians in Charlottesville. I want to thank AMS for allowing me to own several nice pieces of gear through the Rockstar payment plan. AMS has simply made the difference of me owning nice gear currently or not. Buy here pay here reminds me of the good ole days, thank you AMS.
This is a review of the Ibanez Jem 77P BFP,
Blue Floral Pattern. As a Steve Vai fan it’s a dream come true in a sense. I have had several “high end” guitars but never a Jem. I have a Jem Jr. That I think is the best sub $500 guitar out there in the “Shred” style... The Ibanez Jem 77P is Indonesian made not Japanese like the majority of Jem guitars for over 3 decades.
It’s also half the cost or more from Japanese models. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because my Jem will need a little attention. And if you buy this guitar it’s best to be somewhat experienced on guitar set up. It comes ready to play but action is standard and could be lower but all adjustments are standard but necessary. Neck is nice, not flawless but very nice. Mine has a slight raw feeling spot around 17th fret but hours of playing will self sand and oil...Finish is very nice with a couple small clear coat fish eyes here and there that you can barley see. Looks like a microscopic spot you can’t wipe off, lol. No big deal at price point. And unlike Jem Jr. You get the coveted Edge Tremelo, the top reason I bought this guitar. Yes it looks like Tremelo May need a degree variation adjustment. I can do this and from all reviews read not surprised. It’s a “personal” guitar and needs the personal TLC head to toe and it’s worth it. It can be a near 10 if you put a few hours in this gorgeous Jem guitar.
If you are new and like Vai guitars get the Jem Jr. From AMS. It’s ready right out of the box.
If you want the whole Enchilada be prepared to lightly turn a wrench...If this makes sense.
You already know what you are getting before you ever touch it. Well I’m off to a tinker, play and adjust my AMS Jem 77P, and soon just play cause I’ll get it there and it’ll be Gravity Storm And Evolution Heaven. Thank you AMS for the good ole days feel. Cheers to all, Justin.

Product Review
In the 90's, I owned the black floral Jem. Everything about it was amazing. The sound, the feel, the way my fingers would literally bounce from note to note. It was the best guitar I ever owned. Like most musicians, I had to sell it to pay bills at some point. I saw this guitar and thought it would be a reasonable replacement. It was not. The tension feels tight. The pickups sound very "stock." The jumbo frets don't feel very jumbo. I have an Ibanez that I bought for $199.99 back in February that plays way better. I feel like the cost of this thing is based purely on the finish, the grip, and the artist it represents.

For Experienced Guitar Players Only!!!
By: David Burton
Submitted: 4/28/2020
Product Review
I love my new guitar, BUT I don’t appreciate the fact that when I spend $1600, I had to re-adjust the tremolo because it was raked about 20 degrees too high on the Low E side. Then the pods needed to be tightened. Talk about a tense few moments popping off the knobs with loose pods. Luckily I am experienced enough to remedy these problems myself, BUT I shouldn’t have had to do anything to a $1600 Steve Vai Jem. I gave it 4 stars since I love the guitar now that it’s fixed. Just be prepared if you buy this guitar it “MIGHT” need some adjusting right out of the box.

Product Review
I am by no means a good guitar player but I have wanted the Jem since it first came out in the late 80's. There was always something silky about the way the neck felt that made me instantly want one. Well 30 something years later and I see the Jem 77p and I just knew it had to be mine. During the country wide quarantine may not have been financially the best time to make the purchase but I couldnt be happier...it is an incredible guitar. I just hope someday I have the skill to play it like its meant to be played.

Product Review
I love this GUITAR, because it is the same color as my favorite car, I've ever owned. More importantly, is the sound that came along with this beauty. The feel of the Guitar action is stupendous. I say this, because my fingering of the notes, or chords changes are effortlessly completed. The tone of the Ibanez JEM77P is shocking even in the most less expensive amplifier. To be specific, quality sound in a cheap practice amp. Prior to getting my HEADRUSH Pedal Board and Cabinet, I was playing through a $25 10 Watts Practice Amplifier. The sound, I must say again gave me more faith in buying this and more of the JEM7 Guitars, mainly because of the quality sound from playing through a practice amp. Crisp, distinct sound. When playing through my new HEADRUSH Pedal Board and Cabinet from AMS I was floored by the superb sound. I have played JEM77P through my buddies amplifier that is 150 Watts. The sound was breath taking, compared to his guitars non-favorable sound with same settings. WOW!

Product Review
It is my first time playing the basswood body guitar. Unlike the Mahogany or Alder body guitars that I own, this guitar has some well compressed tone with low dynamic range. Bass, middle, treble are well balanced and they are not trying to overpower each other. HSH pickup configuration is dandy and you can achieve a lot of different tonal properties with 5-way selector switch. I will say this guitar is versatile (well, versatility actually depends on your skill level) and perfect for the studio recording. I am a huge Seymore Duncan person and it is my first time playing the Dimazzio pickups. So far, I didn't have problem with Dimazzio pickups and I am in love with them. No matter how many different amp settings you go through, both clean and distorted tones are crystal clear and straight forward. I love the tremolo bridge and it stays in tune just fine but make sure you stretch the strings enough. Overall design of this guitar is beautiful with vine inlays and flower graphics!Love it!

Looks great, but I had problems with the trem staying on the right side post. I played it 4 times and 2 times the trem fell off the post on the right side. I sent it back. Frets were not as smooth as my fujigen ibanez guitars, but it's indonesian made. I gave it a try, live and learn i guess no big whoop. AMS gave me no problems about returning it and I'll buy something else in the near future. Hope everyone else's works fine for them. Cheers!
