2010 Model Updates
Quality:
Overall, Its pretty solid, the finish and pups are kinda cheap, but it makes a great first 7, esp now
Sound:
It has more sustain now, the pups are.. okay- blackouts ftw
Reliability:
made in Indonesia, but there are not probs that don't norm come w/ internet guitars that can't be fixed fast, action intonation etc,
Overall:
This used to be a more mediocre guitar, but with the addition of Gibraltar Standard bridge's to all guitars that had start style ones, made allot of their models allot better, this being one
Playability and Feel:
I love the Wizard II-7 necks, always ba dass
Tone:
Stock pups sound pretty warm for ceramic pups, the ones i played did-
Finish:
it great out of the box, glossy black, i can see it chipping easily though,
Action:
slightly buzzy, small strings for how high it was, easily fixed though,

Semi-Pro

Awesome guitar at a GREAT price!
Quality:
The quality of this instrument is impeccable! I was astounded by the quality of it for the price. I've worked in music stores and know what a $400 guitar is like. These are made in Indonesia and their quality is very high.
Sound:
It sounds good to me. This is my first ever 7-string so I don't have much to compare it to. I do want to change the pickups to make it sort of a Universe tribute so I'll be getting Dimarzio Blaze pickups. But the stock pickups sound pretty good in my opinion.
Reliability:
I've only had it for a couple weeks now so I can't really speak to reliability. Seems like it will hold up!
Overall:
$400 for a 7-String??? Are you kidding me??? I was consider building my own 7-string from parts and that would be over $1,000 so I just went to AMS to see what they had and came across this jem! The quality is amazing for such a low price!!!
Playability and Feel:
It is very easy to play. Naturally the neck is a little wider than a 6-string but the wizard II profile is super thin which makes reaching my hand around it very easy. The controls are well placed and easy to get to. The bridge pickup wrap has been getting hit by my hand while strumming but I don't think that is a big deal and I attribute that more to a brand new guitar than anything else.
Tone:
The tone is very balanced. It seems fairly clear on both clean and distorted tones. Again, I am considering changing the pickups so we'll see how it sounds after that. The basswood body is light but sounds very good. The maple/walnut neck is solid and I think that it coupled with the rosewood fingerboard give the guitar definition.
Finish:
The finish was mirror-like and flawless! I took tons of pictures while it was pristine since now it has my fingerprints all over it!
Action:
The action out of the box was not too bad. I had to adjust it since I tune down half a step and reset the action to super low. It is AWESOME!

Semi-Pro

Can't go wrong here!
Quality:
It is a pretty solid made guitar to be made in Korea.Mine has held up well and the year that i have owned it Ive only had to replace the jack.Fret work could be a little better and the tuners aren't the best but they'll do.
Reliability:
I mostly use this as my back up.Owned mine a little over a year and all i have had to do is replace the jack. This one should hold up nicely just as all my other Ibanez's have.
Overall:
Great guitar and well worth every penny. Its also a nice choice to go with if your just getting into 7 strings.
Playability and Feel:
The guitar is well balanced and pretty light on the shoulders. The neck is the whole reason i bought this guitar. It's fast, thin, and flat and such a joy to play.Has a Wizard II neck which is great but i prefer the thinner Wizard I.Controls are simple and out of the way but easy to reach.
Tone:
Body is made out of Basswood and the neck is made out of Maple with a Rosewood fretboard which sounds nice but would sound a lot better if it were mahogany.I would say the pickups are medium output.I wish they were a little hotter because they tend to get muddy on the low B.I would recommend a pickup change but these aren't to bad.
Finish:
Nice high gloss finish that looks great. No flaws in mine and as with any black guitar be prepared for fingerprints.
Action:
Overall it was nicely setup right out of the box.A few minor adjustments had to be made to my personal likings.

Semi-Pro
