How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck is fast and the scale length is perfect once you get used to it. It's hard to go back to a pencil thin, short 6 string after a year or two on this. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The only thing you'll ever want to do with this guitar is change out the pickups. I put an EMG808 in the bridge, dumped the mid scoop circutry and the other pickup. It works great as a 1 pickup 1 volume guitar. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? gloss black. looks...black. Being a 7 string player for the past 12 years, I knew it would take a little while to get used to the wider fretboard. After a day, I was used to it and using the RG8 to replace my main guitar. The extended range of the RG8's 27" scale length, and body seem to compliment each other. The neck is fast and a nice chunk of wood.
