Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This is a top notch guitar. It's studio worthy and road ready. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I've had mine for 3 years now and it's never let me down. When I first purchased mine they were also double the price...for $400 there's no reason every 8 string player shouldn't own one. Overall Your general opinion of this product. great guitar - there are somethings to change - the pickup and midscoop circuitry must go. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The neck is fast and the scale length is perfect once you get used to it. It's hard to go back to a pencil thin, short 6 string after a year or two on this. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The only thing you'll ever want to do with this guitar is change out the pickups. I put an EMG808 in the bridge, dumped the mid scoop circutry and the other pickup. It works great as a 1 pickup 1 volume guitar. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? gloss black. looks...black. Action How was the action out of the box? ready to play out of the box. change the strings and set the action to the player - but its friendly out of the box.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I consider this guitar very well made. I will be putting this guitar in the upper rotation of my tour gear. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I can not judge that since I just got the guitar 6 days ago. Overall Your general opinion of this product. I love the feel of the RG8. Being a 7 string player for the past 12 years, I knew it would take a little while to get used to the wider fretboard. After a day, I was used to it and using the RG8 to replace my main guitar. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Most guitars tend to be neck heavy. The extended range of the RG8's 27" scale length, and body seem to compliment each other. The neck is fast and a nice chunk of wood. I only use a volume knob, and yes that is very easy to get to while playing. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The tone is very dark, which I love to death. I love the fact that this guitar expresses the tone in my fingers. The pickups have a medium to hot output. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The paint job looks very nice and I cannot wait to see it under stage lights. Action How was the action out of the box? The action right out of the box was a little low with a very minor amount of fret buzz.
