Decent Axe for the money
By: John from Little rock
What is your overall opinion of this product?
The guitar is a good design but workmanship and materials are not stellar. It looks good though. Plays pretty good too.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I bought mine brand new. The frets needed to be dressed terribly. I have a good skill set to i did it myself and it came out quite nice. If you however have never worked on frets, bring it to someone. Once you ruin a fret theres no going back. The body is supposed to be mahogany but it is so light weight i question the quality of the wood. The back of the neck is sanded poorly in some spots as well. It is made in Indonesia.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feel is the typical Ibanez wizard fast neck.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
The pickups stink. It used two AA batteries for a 3 volt system. The tone is not low and heavy. It is focused and not too muck depth or character. Change out the pups for sure.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Paint is good.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Its about worth what you pay. Maybe a little less. I have had many ibanez rg 7strings and a couple EBMM Petruccis too. This is not even close in quality but still is decent enough to play.
How was the action out of the box?
Out of the box it was a disaster. Easy to setup though. Except the fret issue. Took a couple days of an hour here and there to get it right.
