Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Its my first ibanez and I'm pretty happy with my decision to get it. Thanks to AMS for their payment plan I finally got my 8 string I've been wanting for awhile now! It's well made but there are some things I will have to change. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I've had it for maybe 3 weeks so we will see. It's a very sturdy piece of equipment and I feel like I will be playing it for a long time. General Your general opinion of this product. I was super excited just to receive it. It is a nice looking guitar but I noticed a couple of flaws when I first played it. The action was very high and the pickups are going to have to be changed out. There isn't any life in them. I still have a lot of fun playing it though. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It's just as heavy as my Jackson RR1 I think. I still have yet to take it in so I can lower the action on it. I'm very sure it can be lower then what it came as. There is only a volume and pickup selector on it and they are easy to get to. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Like I said before I'm going to get the pickups changed out for sure. The sound they produce just isn't very appealing to me. It's something I noticed right away. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Paint job is as good as an all black guitar can be. Action How was the action out of the box? Action was high. I have a USA made Jackson I've had for about 6 years and never really was happy with the feel of it. It just didn't compare to some of the ones from the 80's I had tried before. That being said, compared to the ibanez my Jackson feels like a Ferrari. Hopefully I can get it to a comfortable level and I can get it to feel a little faster. I still have a lot of fun playing it!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? well made over all quality for the price is out standing. AAA+ Reliability How has it stood up over time? own several other ibanez with no problems just got this one for xmas i expect this one will be the same General Your general opinion of this product. great price for this quality made guitar, you would be hard pressed to find one this nice for the money from any other manufacture. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? the neck is great and my hand after hours of playing wants more, the action is fast and i can rock out all night long. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? good tone but it could be better with a new set of pickups but will do for now Finish How did the stain or paint job look? you can see the craftmanship, ibanez takes pride in every single guitar they finish, and it shows as soon as you see your new guitar for the first time. Action How was the action out of the box? no need to change a thing great out of the box perfect for me

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Very well made, Impressed - I own Jackson soloists, ESP M1, Schecter C-7 and Les Paul Custom. This just plays well, maybe it has it's own mojo? Reliability How has it stood up over time? New, expect this to last General Your general opinion of this product. First Ibanez for me and I am very pleased with the fit and finish. The RG came very well set up - obviously AMS did a great job and it was the first I didn't need to immediate change strings and set up. Owning a Schecter C7, the Ibanez just plays better. When you check the specs, this is the thinnest neck around, in fact I felt immediately conformable with the 8 string (more so than the 7)and played for hours. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? the neck is the nicest I have seen on an 8. I really like the unfinished neck. Just fell into my hands action is great and the neck radius is super flat, you at least try one when you are ready Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? stock sound somewhat muddy, but passable Action How was the action out of the box? The best I have seen!!!! Thanks

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? i own a arsenal of ibanez guitars and other products and have for about 10 years and ive never had one fail. Reliability How has it stood up over time? i have only had it for a bout a month and a half but based on other ibanez products i have i would bet money itll last. General Your general opinion of this product. This is the best guitar ive ever played a quick pickup upgrade to some blackouts would make it even better, but for what it is ibanez hit the nail on the head. slim neck, light weight, and affordable. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? plays great actually the best of any guitar ive played and is quite light weight. easy adjustment if used to 7 strings already. may take work if goin from a 6 string. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? the stock pickups are a lil dull i would suggest throwing in seymour duncan blackouts. mid switch should always be on for best tone. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? pait is and excellent gloss black but i would have much rather had a different color as everyother black guitar i have bought has be repainted to a much flashier color. Action How was the action out of the box? action out of the box was perfect for me. not to low not to high though the 8th string could be a heavier gauge.
great deal on a quality 8 string

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? see above Reliability How has it stood up over time? so far good General Your general opinion of this product. this is a great deal don't waste more on the same guitar with a basswood body that looks like a jem. I bought this body is a 4 piece mahogany and tone is, the neck is thinner then most of the newer 7 strings, setup is a breeze and it plays well. Now if I can only get a high A4 on it that will last ill be set, the low f# is a waste for me as it is just too low. The pickups are complete junk, I have ordered a set of bare knuckle cold sweats, they sound like evo 2's. other than that very happy with the guitar itself at 799.00 this is a steal get one before the fad dies. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? fast wide and stout. yes Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? trashy pickups by bare knuckle cold sweats. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? decent some issues with the body grain seen but you have to look. Action How was the action out of the box? good
Just add pickups

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I think in a better economic climate they could have demanded a much higher price. The quality is to the standards of my prestige models. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Haven't had it long enough to determine. General Your general opinion of this product. Wonderful build quality with astounding playability. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Being an 8 string, the neck feels huge but however, being of Ibanez lineage it is lightning fast and comfortable. I trust mid-priced and higher Ibanez guitars to have the best quality per dollar you can get in any guitar and in my humble opinion, the most awesome neck profiles in the industry. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The tone is somewhat dark but lively and resonate. My problem is the pickups, I don't want to say they are terrible but at the same time, I'm not going to record or even play live until they are replaced. Ibanez seems to be known to put in somewhat sub-par pickups on even their higher end models and I am actually ok with this because 9 out of 10 players who spend very much money on a guitar are going to switch the p'ups anyway. I just wish they didn't have the large active routs. It limits the choice of passive pickups you can use without using mounting rings that I don't really care for. But anyway, the stock pickups sound like a hive of buzzing bees & with the eq switch engaged it just becomes dead, overly dark and muddy. I could find no useable neck pickup tones on any of my rigs....not clean, not overdriven, not br00t4l. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Fit & finish really surprised me, No internet or catalog picture does this guitar justice. You simply must see one in person to truly appreciate it. Action How was the action out of the box? Action was slightly high out of the box but nothing too hateful. Strings were slightly on the light side for me but hey, they're already gone.
Awesome!
