Even adding the extra cost for a set of Duncan Hot Rod Humbuckers, this guitar is a STEAL at the price. Reliability How has it stood up over time? The previous S Series guitars I've owned held up nicely and I have no reason to think this guitar will be any different. Overall Your general opinion of this product. This is the fourth S Series guitar I've had. I am going to KEEP this one because the ZR Trem is the absolute best there is. Are the controls easy to get to while playing? The S420 is a VERY comfortable guitar. Lightweight. The neck is very fast and easy to play. The volume and tone knobs and 5 way switch are laid out perfectly. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? You can definitely get bright and snappy but as I said, the bottom end is a bit muddy. The overall guitar is wonderful. Well made and beautiful. It depends on what you are going to play. Metal kids will love it. I am going to upgrade the pickups and then, I am certain, I will absolutely LOVE this guitar. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? I got the Blackberry Sunburst and it is BEAUTIFUL. Stunning, actually. I am very pleased with the looks of this guitar. Action How was the action out of the box? Action and intonation were excellent, right out of the box. The neck is very fast, easy to play and this guitar is VERY comfortable to strap on.
