Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? I have 3 gripes: 1). the eq does not work on my model- I'm opting to get warranty service over returning this bass- this was the last model and who knows when they'll receive more- I heard that these are made to order and figured I can obtain warranty service a lot quicker- its probably an easy fix for a guitar tech. (even without the eq this bass sounds amazing- volume and Pick-Up blend/Tone knobs work and very responsive). 2). You would think that the cavity would be a little neater meaning things would be tucked away and the battery slot would be more accessible on a high end bass- not on this model- when I opened the cavity the electronics were just kind've stacked and the battery slot, (uses 2 AA batteries), was somewhat obstructed by some cables- it seems very delicate inside the cavity. 3).The cavity door is not completely flat- you can see it bulge slightly- not a big deal but relative to the price of this bass this should not be the case. These gripes aside the bass is solid Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? By far the neck, pick-ups, skimpy body tone, and the general aesthetics of the bass makes this a keeper. Sound How is its Tone? The tone is fantastic and even throughout- no deadpots- I love the low B- very articulate and deep. Records great direct- I was pleasantly surprised by the playback- sounded like I was playing through my Hartke LH500- without sending it through a pre. Chords sound nice on this bass as well. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? If you've play Fenders or Warwicks as I have you will love this bass. My gripes with Warwicks are the baseball bat necks and the weight of Bubinga. My gripe with Fenders is the weight and large bodies. I currently own a Spector Euro 4Lx and that bass feels and sounds amazing as well. The tone and feel of the SR4005e will keep you coming back! Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Warm, thick, articulate, nice sustain- this is without the EQ section of this bass. I mostly do Pop, Funk, R&B and Urban music-this bass suits those styles. This bass would probably suit certain styles of rock and jazz fusion. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The finish was just as pictured so it looks more like an orange red, which I'm very happy with, not just plain red. I also like that the gloss is very light- you won't leave fingerprints behind. Action How was the action out of the box? Perfect- low and buttery- I will not need a setup. Even a buddy of mine who plays a Marcus Miller 4 couldn't get over how great and effortless this neck feels- he was blown away and couldn't get over how this bass felt and sounded.
