Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Factory finish was flaw-free, fret dressing was very good for off the shelf. Had a minor crack in the finish on the top of the body from handling I suppose. The minor crack is the only reason for 4 stars. I don't believe it was "as produced" but it was how the bass was received. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Very well made, would gig with it solo, but I still love my old SR800 so it'll be rolling out to shows with me too. This is my new go-to bass though. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? Neck through, Active EMG's with 3 band and a high mass bridge... what more could you want aside from flush mount strap locks and a locking input jack (already done), only minor gripe was the plastic knobs. I have 5 other Ibanez's and they all have metal, even the concentric pot 3 bands I have. I think these are OEM EMG knobs. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Bright, Mellow, Piano Tones, Slappy just about whatever you want. Hard to dial in a good growl, but my RBI preamp takes care of that nicely.
This bass is a must have for metal players on a budget!

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? 5 Feels sturdy. When your playing it, you know you have a solid piece of equipment. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? 5 I really like the EMG's and the on board EQ. You can really get a wide range of tones. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Pickups are hot. It has a lot of potential for different tone. I like a bassy grisly kind of dirty tone, but I was able to dial in a nice punchy tone for slapping if I need it. Onboard EQ allows for all types of tones. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? 5 Finish was surprisingly well done for the price I paid.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Ibanez basses are always made with quality in mind. The only thing I would've asked for is that the control knobs not be made with plastic. Metal knobs are just more durable. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? The neck-through design on this bass is killer. The sustain could go on for days. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Dark and growly. The pickups are definitely full and meaty. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? I bought the amber colored version of this bass and it is absolutely beautiful. The flamed maple top stands out and is even better than the pictures online.
