Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
You will have to experiment and figure out how you want your mp3's to come out. first there are two settings to choose from; normal, for normal tapes, and chrome for metal tapes and tapes with noise reduction. You can select to divide recording into tracks. Say there are five songs on side A of the tape. If you divide into tracks you'll have 5 mp3's. I you don't divide you'll have 1 mp3 with 5 songs on it. If you choose to divide into tracks, beware that this is done by volume level, meaning, if a song has a quiet transition or brief silence between an intro and a verse, the Ion will make two seperate tracks even though it's the same song. If you have the time, don't divide into tracks and record one song at a time. Next, you have an adjustable gain setting. This will help with clarity on those old tapes. Caution! The volume control also affects the level of the recording. Then you can title and save your tracks as mp3. Comes with itunes software.

I have hundreds of tapes. To buy mp3's would cost more than $40. It's a no brainer.

A standard hand held tape player that requires 2 AA batteries that converts to MP3. I would add a simple mixing program to help improve the mp3 sound.

Set-up was the difficult part. The set-up menu gave me a choice, but both choices required me to download itunes. Doing so jacked my settings which had to be re-set and tweaked but after that everything went smoothly.

I'm using it to convert old 4 track tapes to MP3 and so far it does exactly what it was advertised to do. A mixing program would be nice and a choice other than itunes would also be good.

Very easy to use. Was transferring over songs within minutes. Manual could be a explain a little more as I had to learn through trial and error on a few cassettes. I recommend starting the cassette and hitting record a couple seconds before the first song starts and stopping the record at the end of the last song on that side before hitting stop. Also, record each side individually. Makes for easier listening later.

Couldn't beat the price. I paid $39.99 on special and it paid itself off with just recording my Eric Clapton and B.B. King box sets and my London Session's (Muddy, Howlin, Chuck and Diddley.)
