Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Absolutly well made and dependable. I play in a band and it's one of my weapons of choice in my little arsonal. If you play in a band you can relate to what I say when I say that it's dependable, and you need that to deliver, in the studio, on the road in the clubs and all around for your playing pleasure. For the price??? CANT BEAT IT!!
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've had mine for a few months and not a single problem with it.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
This guitar delivers for the price. I've had many jacksons over the years and I have to say this model is right up there with the best of them. The EMG's are punchy when you got distortion going, yet when you switch to a clean sound it's warm and full with tone. Most guitars either give you one, or the other. YOU GET the BEST of both worlds here. The finish is really cool, and the weight is equally balanced as well from headstock to the end of the top point beside you.The tremelo isnt an original floyd but I couldnt believe jackson's version of it!! I hammer all over this thing and it stay in tune "EVERYTIME". Again...I beat the S**! out of it!!! I've also notice there are two different style strings that work well with the guitar, I used ernie ball super slinky's, and I used dean markly. Both light guage and I have had no tremelo issues because of the light strings I use. I'v been recording live with So in all...the guitar looks Awesome/Evil, and it sounds as awesome/evil as it looks.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Ok....I covered some of these things but I will again, the sound is all of what the guitar looks...TOUGH. Punchy, chunky, and yet can make you cry with the clean sound and of course with a few of your favorite effects. The controls are placed close enough to get too, volume knob, tone knob, really easy...and the tremelo bar is right at your finger tips and all this from a guy who has fat stubby fingers!! The neck is great, fast and easy to run up or down. I'm not in it for the $50.00 prize, I'm telling you about my guitar.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
This guitar enables you to go alot of different ways. Believe me I tried a bunch of different tones/sounds and styles. Im a metalhead, yet I like to play other styles as well so...I have tried Metal, to blues, to classical and it delivered every single time. The EMG HZ set are incredible and fit the guitar just right.Thick, thin, heavy, light. You can get all out of the setup if you mess around with it enough. I really cant stress how much it can do, it's always up to you and what you do with it, but try alot of different things, and this guitar will surprise you, and not let you down. It can scream, and it can cry. Either way? You cant go wrong with this guitar.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
I got the black one with silver bevels. ITS A GREAT LOOK!!!Its got a sleak design, high gloss mirror finish...nice...I want the red one with black bevels next.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
PERFECT...set low and no fret buzz. The neck is impressive...lets you fly all over the place, and I experienced no dead frets at all. The sharkfin inlays are nice as well. Well built, and looks great.
