Product Rating Product Review I normally play only high end 4 string basses. However I started playing with a thrash/death metal band that required a 5 string bass because the guitar players use 7 string guitars. I was really worried about buying something this cheap for a pro band that has all high end gear. But after looking around this seemed like the best option since I am more of a fan of big basses and not those tiny little skinny neck basses. Boy was I correct. This bass looks, plays, and sounds like the best of them. The quality is brilliant. It cuts through the mix with its beefy but punchy mid range tone live and in the studio and it is very comfortable to play. I highly recommend this bass for any type of fast and riffy band because of it's clear and sharp tone. I am about to buy another one for a live back up not that I think I will need it but it gives me an excuse for me to buy another one since I love it so much. I highly recommend this bass so don't worry. Just buy it!

Just purchased this bass yeasterday and it arrived today, American Musical is the best when it comes to fast shipping, the over all qualityof this bass is excellent, coul;dnt find any flaws on mine and it looks like itcost double thasn its going for, well constructed , solid, well balanced, the finish is beautiful and the EMG pick ups and pre-amp sound sweet. As I said in the title, well worth the price.. Ok once aagain, this model as apposed to the JS modelwhich are the same bass body shape and feel wise, is the electronics, the JS has the Jackson humbucker pick ups and pre-amp, and this model the David Ellefson CBXV has the EMG pick ups and pre-amp, but then again its all a case of preference, the JS is $120.00 dollars less with the Jackson electronics, I gave the features a 4 instead of a 5 because, the controls which are nice, im not complaining, you get 1 Volume control that controls both pick ups, and 1 pick up splitter control for the pick ups, would rather have seperate volume controls for each pick up instead of the pick up splitter control, but its no big deal, and it has a individual controls for treble, midrange, and bass.. The tone is very nice and very versatile, plus it dont say what kind of strings it comes from the factory with but they look, sound and feel like D'Addario 45 to 125 gauge strings, so the strings you choose to use will also depend on the sound and tones you get, flatwounds or round wounds.and brand...but over all, very nice sound and very versatile.. Your general opinion of this product. A very well made and great sounding bass, and very versatile, looks sounds and plays like higher end basses that cost much more, alot of bass at a price that wont break you.. This bass plays ver nice and feels very comfortable, the neck is alittle chunky but hey its a five string, I have no trouble ajusting and playing this bass, I play 23 other basses of all makes and neck designs so im acustomed to different neck shapes.. The tone is killer, this us a very sweet sounding bass. The finish on this bass (I have the Quicksilver, is flawless and very high end bass looking, it stands out and catches your eye.. Action out of the box was awesome, very loww as I like my action, and no fret buzz, she was ready to ROCK right out of the box..
