Don't know about dependability yet but the build quality seems very solid and the amp performs well. I am not sure how you could beat this for value in this price range if you want a simple yet powerful all tube amp ... spanks the Class 5 and other simple low wattage amps badly. If you do need a spring reverb tank ... you are SOL with the head. Go with the combo then.

Not sure ... I have beat the crap out of it for 3 weeks now and it is just starting to sound sweet. I did make sure the tubes were seated after shipping. Use a vinyl gloves or a rag to keep finger prints off of the tubes though. I just can't imagine Soldano putting his name on cheap junk ... IMHO he has not.

I have have been playing for over 25 years and have and only had this amp for about 2 weeks now but so far I am extremely impressed with it. Yes it is manufactured in China but it is pure rock and has a great big set of b@lls. I have not replaced the tubes with a premium set and will eventually but frankly I'm having fun breaking these Asian puppies in just to see if I can blow them up. Not microphonic yet. Have a set of JJ's waiting. There is a monster in there somewhere ... and it loves to be set free ... even on the low numbers. My only complaint is that the knobs are numbered to "9" ... Excuse Me ??? ... they should be numbered to 11 ... because that is what I am hearing. Not sure what's up with the 3's but amps are to heard and not seen although it ain't ugly. I took the one off the cab and left the one on the head ... sorry guys ... 333 + 333 = 666 ... just TOO evil for me. Mine came with a Blue-lit On / Off toggle switch and not the bubble pilot light. I like that better.

Sweet little amp suited for practice or gigging small to medium venues. Purist country players may want to stick to Fender and the Tele ... although I caught my Nashville Tele having "relations" with this amp ... Gibson Players ... Good news and bad for you ... there really is not much clean headroom for you guys but if you into peeling wallpaper via your Les Paul ... you are in luck big time.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Expect this amp to sound like a hot little Plexi with ample gain. Can't match Fender for clean tones but blows them away if you are into gain for Classic Rock or even vintage rock with some bottom. No reverb on the head. The combo does have reverb. Keep that in mind. This would certainly not be my first choice if I were a strict country picker or a jazz guy ... although a sharp chicken picker could get quite evil with this little amp with some tasty compression, a single slap back delay and reverb via a POD or whatever your pedal flavor is. The Vibe effect on my ME-70 along with this amp nails the Hendrix tone BTW ... for me anyway. I have owned a Shinai Uni-Vibe and Marshalls. This is a better baby Marshall IMHO. Straight in it is a the bomb too. The amp changes of course according to how hard you kick the 12AX7's and the EL84's ... a killer and proven tube set. I have never heard a bad amp that uses these tubes although I'm sure someone has some junk somewhere ... just not here.

Plug for AMS here ... the brown truck destroyed the cabinet box ( way to go Teamsters ) and the cab had 2 bad gouges in it on the front and side from shipping damage. I though about keeping it anyway to save the hassle but AMS replaced the cabinet instantly and did not even require photos of the shipping damage. I guess UPS bought that one since they picked it back up.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Yep ... Action is indeed outside the box ... inside too ... very expressive and impressive little amp for it's size and low wattage. It has plenty of bark and bite as well.

It appears to be very well made. I know its from a factory in China but the quality control seems really good. Soldano put his name of approval on it right?

This is one of the best amps I have owned.I also own a Vox VT50 and a Blackheart Little Giant. The Vox is too complicated and the Blackheart needs more features. The Jet City Is easy to use and has all the features you need in an amp.

Since it is made in China I have my concerns, but I feel like Mike Soldano wouldn't put his name on it if it wasn't of decent quality.
Reliability

I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but it seems to be fairly well made. The covering could be a little heavier duty, but at this price it's hard to be picky about that. I could always have it recovered.
