In order to make sure that its something that you need check out their site. For practicing I would not add but for micing up your kick it makes it nice, but it is kind of big and bulky looking on my head. Evans has a nice pre made port that is simillar and looks better.

I use the kick port on my 16,18,and 22 in. bass drums. Once you learn how to install the kick port, it will take about a minute to place it on the head and you are good to go. The low end will no longer sound muddy, it will be clear, and with more power and boom. The product will also control overtones and lessen sustain coming from the reso head. The color choices are great also. 42 years of drumming and I love kick port.

When buying a new kit, a Kickport is a standard part of the setup. You don't even need to buy BD reso heads with an existing hole. A $7 hole cutter does the job just fine, or even an exacto knife and the hole template that comes with the Kickport. The Kickport applies just the right amount of muffling to the reso head, and vents the lower frequencies like a subwoofer. Get one!

Been drumming for years and this is such an awesome product!! Definitely helps to get the deep low end volume out of your drums! I get tons of compliments on my bass drum for having a great punch and a killer tone! I highly recommend you getting this to rock in your drums!

This is the greatest invention for the drums! I have a kickport and fx-port in every drum and really helps my sound have tons of dynamics and a deep rich tone! Everyone compliments me on how awesome my bass drums sounds! Super easy to install and its pretty much indestructible! LOVE THIS PRODUCT! D. Mann!!

Whether on tour, or recording in the studio we make sure every bass drum, snare and floor/rack tom is loaded with a kickport or fx-port! Definitely helps deliver that deep punch and rockin tone! Hey Lester Chambers here of The Chambers Brothers! I LOOOOVE Kickports and make sure all my drummers use em! The incredible bass enhancement really adds a rich tone to my sound! The Punch from the kick-port bass drum really puts a Boom in my Blues! Every singer needs a drummer using Kickport!!

This thing has been hyped all over the place. Here is what it does:
The port effectively lowers the resonant frequency of the resonating interior of the drum... so it makes the drum "sound" lower even though it is tuned the same.
The port ALSO has foam stuff around the flange where it touches the front head... so it deadens the front head as well. This is not necessarily good or bad, that's up to you.
My experience:
It makes the drum sound lower and shortens the decay (due to front head dampening. Having mic'd these up quite a few times I can assure you that the drum will sound better WITHOUT the kick port through the mic. It's not a huge difference but the port makes the interior of the drum sound weird through the mic. If you only mic the outside of the hole/head no biggie.

Does slip to bottom of "hole" when used, but still sealed well.
Definitely deeper and unique.
Cheap enough and does what it's advertised. Not as dramatic as videos, but sound is deeper. Good in live setting.

i have a pearl studio masters kick, it lowered the tone to superstar status, its awesome!
50.00 dollars is sketchy to spend for a novelty, if it doesn't work, money wasted. Not in this case, great value for something that does so much.
