General What is your overall opinion of this product? While no product is perfect, the Kronos is probably the closest thing. If you're looking for a do everything workstation, then this is it. From the 9-sound engine; 16-part Combi mode; 16-track sequencer; KARMA; drum tracks and a sampler. The Kronos has everything to cover you from the studio to the stage. Quality What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music? The knobs and sliders aren't sturdy enough; they feel real weak. If you're a heavy-handed person, like I am, they way they are made they feel like they fall apart. So far I haven't any knobs or sliders to come undone. Compared to the synthesizers and keyboard of yesterday, none of today's keyboard stand up to par. For the amount of money these companies want you to pay, they should build better quality 'boards. The Kronos has the range to cover all categories of music genres. Ease of Use How user friendly is it? Would it work well for a beginner, intermediate or experienced player? If you're a beginner, or new to the world of synthesis, then learning how to maneuver through the Kronos might be challenging. But, they have an on-board tutorial. Once you dig in, you'll get familiar with all the features and other options. Features Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features? The are plenty of features available on the Kronos; if you're expecting anything more then this isn't the synth for you. Sound How is the sound quality? How does the sound compare to other products you've use? The overall sound quality is slightly above average. Another knock I have on today synths are the sound quality. With today's technology, you'd think that we would have some type of major improvement. I'm a big fan of analog and the sounds of the keyboards of the past. Even with the Kronos 9-sound engine, the AL-1; MS-20EX & PolysixEX, can't compare to true analog sound. Even the much hyped SGX-1 Premium Piano; EP-1 MDS Electric Piano & CX-3 Tonewheel Organ sound thin and hollow. The 2 most impressive sound engines on the Kronos are the HD-1 and MOD-7. This is expected because Korg gave us the M1 and Wavestation that practically invented waveshaping synthesis. Feel How is the feel of the keys? Are the controls laid out well? I have Kronos 61 and I love the feel of the semi-weighted keys. The overall layout is good. Although, you have dozens of features, the controls are strategically placed. Value Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range? Like I said before, no product is perfect. But, compared to other workstations and other synths on the today's market, the Kronos is well worth. The only minor gripe that I have is the overall sound quality. But, I'm a slave to the past. No keyboard built today sound as good as the past. The only difference between today's & yesterday's keyboard are the improvements with memory, sampling, sequencers & MIDI.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? This workstation is definitely well put-together. There have been complaints about the data wheel but I have had no problems. It's remarkably light given how solid it feels and given that it's basically an entire studio inside a workstation keyboard. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? The MS-20 and PolySix are worth the price of admission alone (100+ voice polyphony on both engines); but, the fact that this comes with absolutely the most meticulously sampled grand pianos, amazing modeled organs courtesy the CX-3 engine, equally amazing modeled electric pianos and the much sought-after string modeling, plus high-definition, 24-bit sampling with full vector control (vector synthesis via joystick, vector envelope and wavesequences) and an absolutely breathtaking analog modeled synthesizer, plus VPM/FM synthesis in an innovative modular format which allows for inclusion of samples and external audio in the audio signal path, and- my personal favorite- the multi-filter for basically designing your own filter curves- available in most modes of operation. Don't forget it's compatible with Oasys programs! And did I mention pitch->CV conversion and envelope tracking of external audio to drive the MS-20's engine? I really could go on but I've only had this a few days! Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? There is so much going on under the hood in this product but it's all been designed around Korg's previous products. If you're used to Korg workstations then the learning curve on this will be nil. If you're not, it's still remarkably easy to navigate all of the options. The Help button actually contains an HTML-looking version of the manual with screenshots and everything right on the touch-screen. This feature is also context-sensitive so if you're in the middle of a project and just need help, say, wiring up the MS-20's patch panel, all you have to do is press the dedicated Help button while looking at the patch panel. Other than that, it's beyond easy to navigate programs and combinations; in fact it's just plain fun! Sound How is the tone? The tone is remarkable for all of the synth sections on this beast. Each part of a combi or sequence has individual EQ curves in addition to access to up to 12 insert FX plus 2 master FX plus 2 "total" (finishing/mastering) FX and a number of other per-track/per-part fine-tuning capabilities. The modeled amps and cabinets are of such a professional quality that you'll be recording directly into its 2 inputs and not even pining for that Marshall stack or GK head. Recording onto any of the 16 audio tracks feels just as natural as any DAW and it's seriously a breeze to re-take, comp/swipe and bounce tracks. Plus, you can record through FX or bounce through them or both. The finished sound is as professional as you would like to make it with a battery of choruses, flangers, phasers, vocoder FX, compressors, limiters, expanders, exciters (and yes, they do sidechaining!), a myriad insert EQ's and reverbs plus master EQ's, reverbs and whatever else you feel like dedicating to the mix... Value Was this item an overall good value? The price is a bit much if you're just looking for a keyboard but I can fully justify selling a studio's worth of gear, especially if you need the space. It really does that much (16 MIDI *plus* 16 audio tracks and the ability to bounce to lossless audio on the internal hard drive or any USB device you can throw at it).
simply amazing
