Value Was this item an overall good value? really not too bad, but i'm sure they are making a huge profit with regards to production costs...because of the sounds (see below), i am satisfied with it, but i would have been totally happy with it if it had been about 20$ less... Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? well it is plastic, i got it not too long ago, so we will see, it is apparent that one must be gentle with it. i am going to buy a second, just for a backup. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? ok, here we go... not a big fan of the ribbon. i know they wear out over time, not so precise when you use your finger-i got a stylus (which they really should have included), and it is a lot better with that, the knobs seem like they might not hold up so well with a lot of use over time, but then again, its a 60$ analog synth. could use an ac power option and a 1/4" out. Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? really easy to use. not much of a learning curve, if youve ever used a synth (even if you haven't, it's simple). Sound How is the tone? SOUNDS AWESOME! the sounds you can get out of this totally make up for the cons i mentioned above, and by using it with other equipment (effects,sampler-sequencer, etc), it can be totally versatile. got it last night, today, i spent about 5 hours recording with it hooked up to a boss ps2, and some reverb, and i am liking the results a lot.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Seems to be well-made...plastic, but sturdy. And the tiny knobs have great firm action for precise twiddling! Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? Best features: vintage-analog synth tweakability and portable size (it will fit into your shirt pocket pretty easily). It would be great if it could "hold" a tone while you tweak it...as it is, you have to keep your finger pressed on the ribbon controller to keep the sound going. And an actual keyboard would be great, but then it couldn't be as small (or as affordable) as it is...maybe Korg will do a MK II at a slightly larger size in the future? I can only hope! Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? Very easy to use, even though the manual isn't quite detailed enough; it tells you what each knob & switch is, but doesn't fully explain what they actually do. But that's not the point here; it's a fully-functional true analog synth that will give you trippy electronic sounds galore. Just experiment with it a while and you'll delight yourself with the fun of it. In the first 10 minutes, I had (accidentally) figured out the sound at the beginning of Steve Miller's "Jungle Love"...and I was hooked! Sound How is the tone? There's a built-in little speaker that has the expected little tone...about as loud as a cell phone speaker. But if you have a stereo mini-plug you can run it into an amp or mixer for wonderfully fat analog sounds. It sounds really tasty cranked up! Value Was this item an overall good value? I got mine as a "scratch and dent" item for about 20% less than the usual price...but it's so much fun that $59.99 would still have been a bargain.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Yeah it's plastic, but it's pretty well made. I took mine on a show tour of Chile, and haven't had a problem yet. I found a semi-hard shell case for PSP that came with 3 styli and earbuds - perfect fit for the Monotron. Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? The sounds. The aux input jack. The filter. The portable size. Midi or USB would be nice, and maybe a little longer ribbon. Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? This is as easy as it gets - load the batteries, and anyone can be having musical fun in seconds. The manual doesn't say much, it doesn't need to. This is a very intuitive unit. Sound How is the tone? Tone is great, largely due to the quality filter Korg put in. Might have been nice to have some other waveform choice(s) Value Was this item an overall good value? I paid the same amount for a PAIA gnome micro ribbon synth KIT back in 1975. The Monotron is way smaller, sounds way better, and I didn't have to assemble it. Yeah it's a great value.

Was this item an overall good value? I don't think I would pay much more but it is definite value for the price compared to paying over 500 used to just get an analog mono in your rig. Any musician could use one. Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Held in hand it's actually quite well put together. It's plastic but it's sturdy. No problems so far. Worked perfect right out of the box. Knobs very responsive and smooth. No stepping! Features What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? Sound for sure. The osciallator, LFO and filter are all of decent music quality and more than accepatble to produce profesisonal results. Nice to have a swtich to modulate the osc or filter. The ribbon is gimmicky but capable of anything. MIDI in would have been nice just to play notes in a more organized fashion. MIDI in and envelope I think are most needed. Beyond that it would probably get too expensive and lose its charm. Ease of Use How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? Very easy. The simple manual would even help someone who's never touched a synth get it. Sound How is the tone? Easily the best part. I consider the filter's tone to be far better than other "toy" synths like the Stylophone, Gakken, SH-101 or CS01. It actually has a bit of a vintage sound and warmth as well.
Seems like a good value
