After having done endless research on this guitar for over a year I finally decided to pull the trigger. The guitar arrived packaged neatly and secure, it only needed a slight tune to get it perfect. AMS has been my choice to get guitars due to their easy monthly pay process, I’ve made multiple purchases from AMS and I will continue to support them by continuing to buy from AMS. This guitar is well worth it and is highly underrated, it punches way above its price point. You will not be disappointed.

The Kramer Baretta special is a super terrific electric guitar!
I've only had it a few weeks and I already love it!
Plug this shredder in and you immediately see what she's made for! Channel your inner EVH or RAtt with this gal!
The simple 1 humbucker, 1 volume knob config just screams arena rock and metal !
Gotta love these made in Indonesia guitars, especially their necks!
For the price, it definitely meets my expectations!

My 10 year old saw this guitar and it is the only one he wanted because of the amazing purple color. I said maybe for his birthday in the summer, but because of AMS great payment plans he’ll be getting it for Christmas. He doesn’t play yet, but I do and it looks and plays great right out of the box. The pictures do not do it justice. The purple is crazy cool. AMS got it to me in a couple of days well packed and perfect. Thanks American Musical for making me, my wife and soon (Christmas Day) my son very very happy. You guys rock so much!

I ordered a Kramer Beretta special in the black ebony. The volume was stuck full on, with no ability to turn it down. I contacted support, they were very nice, I initiated a replacement. the replacement had no volume problems, and I set the action change the strings and intonated the guitar, all things that I expect to do on any low-end model but, it seemed to be intonated perfectly, until I played on the first three frets. the first three frets were Sharp, and there was nothing I could do about it because every other threat was pitch perfect, and open was pitch perfect as well. I learned online that the issue was that the nut wasn't cut deep enough. well rather than putting all that work I just returned the guitar for a refund. it's a beautiful guitar but I ordered two and both wear a no-go.

Back in the 1980s, the Baretta was one of the 3 or 4 absolute best-quality guitars Kramer made, which was saying something. The very fact that this is being sold without a Floyd Rose is just ridiculous. You can put a Ferrari logo on a base model Honda Civic, but that won't help you win any races.

Had to remove capacitor from volume pot so It would work properly plus it added power to the Humbucker. Remove this immediately and you’re good to go. Otherwise the volume is on/off , by removing capacitor, works properly and dials back for great tones. Great neck profile. Plays as good or better than my Ibanez rg or schecters costing over $1200 each.

This is my third Baretta Special if that says anything. These are amazing guitars for the price. They are solid and play well right out of the box. They are so much fun to play and modify if your into that. You can’t go wrong with these. There is something very satisfying about playing a $200 guitar that feels like 3x the price. Get one while you can!

This guitar is perfect, if I had payed 700 dollars for this,I would have been satisfied. But it wasn't, it was under 200 dollars! This quickly became my main guitar. It feels great, has low action and actually sounded pretty decent. I put an emg in it and it sounds great. It was still cheaper than a budget guitar than anyone else.

Product Review
Always wanted one of these because I had a new Chevy Beretta GT back in day, was the first thing I purchased with my royalty check back in 1988. I bought a vintage Kramer and wanted one that if it got dinged up, so what. I actually loaned this to one of the biggest bands of the 80's that are still touring stadiums todays left side stage guitar player to use on their new album they released last Summer. He was also using a Squire Starcaster right out of box on what I'd consider their best album since 1996. This guitar is a killer bargain, if it held up to how hard this fella plays as well as using a brass pick it will hold up to anything. Highly recommend.

This Kramer Baretta Special from American Musical is an awesome shred machine. It is very built and sounds awesome. The pickup is bright and crisp and the guitar feels great in the hands and plays really well straight out of the box. This guitar is so reasonably priced (especially
with AMS payment plans) you will want to get one in every color. That is crazy but very doable. Plug it in and shred! AMS always delivers really fast in very well packed boxes. Don't hesitate, just do it now. You will not regret it.

Being a player since my teenage years during the 80's, I always wanted a single pickup, one knob Kramer. Once the 90's hit, I was a poor, broke kid with no spare time or money. Over the years, it became nearly impossible to find this 80's thrasher. Well, at least one that I liked the style and price of. Then this bad boy landed in my email inbox. I love this thing! And for that price, I knew I couldn't let this one get away. It's my new everyday guitar. After just a couple of months, I can't even give you an estimate of how many hours I've logged on this thing! Great guitar! IF you just want something simple to noodle around on, or know someone who is just starting out, this guitar is perfect. Nothing fancy, but everything you need.

Bought the "Purple" one on a whim. Got here in 3 days. Unboxed it and shook it down. No Fret "Sprout". Minor tuning and plugged it in. I have a Fender 212 amp and a Korg Processor. This thing is amazing for the bargain price of $199,00. I wasn't impressed with the pot. I watched a few vids. Cut off the "Cap". Still wasn't what I wanted. I replaced it with a EVH Pot. Plays and sounds Awesome. I graphited the Nut. Brought the Action down a little. For the money? You can't beat it. Buy it! Don't get the red one. It's more "Pepto Pink", unless that's your thing. AMS is great to work with. I'll be buying more.

Product Review
Growing up in the 80's was a blast for guitar players. This Kramer Beretta Special embodies the ideal of having a fast, sleek modern guitar without spending a fortune on it. I love the fret work, which was the best I've ever seen on a guitar in this price range. I originally bought it to mod it and probably will down the road but this thing rock as is for sure! I've had it for over 2 months and besides simple set up have done nothing to it. And it shreds. It's a great tool to have to learn how to develop tone from your hands because of the simple pick up set up. It blows away any reservations I had about buying such a low priced guitar that I want another one soon! The one thing I will say is that the nut does bind and tuning is sometimes a challenge but like I said I intend on doing some simple mods to it and that should clear up those issues. Check one out for yourself!

For a lower priced guitar I'm very impressed. The set-up was right on for me. the neck feels good, frets feel good. Pickup sounds good. I might lightly sand or graphite the nut. It might have been new unstretched strings, but I had to re-tune several times when I first started playing. I think the tuning stability is there now, but will still help the nut some. Also, the volume pot doesn't roll off the way I want it to. I saw some youtube videos on this issue with this guitar and they recommend snipping the capacitor. Excellent guitar for the money!

My candy blue Kramer baretta special arrived well packed and is very beautiful and plays and sounds great. It's amazing to get a guitar this nice for such a low price and the free shipping makes it an extremely good deal! When it arrived the high E string wouldn't make a note on the very highest fret/note but I used the included hex wrench to barely raise the strings bridge saddle and it sounds the note perfectly now.. Other than that one tiny problem all I had to do upon arrival was stretch and tune the strings and wow this guitar has a great hardrock sound and vibe.

Let me just say that I was skeptical about this purchase. I wanted to believe the hype about this guitar and ultimately decided to go ahead and order it. Right out of the box I fell in love with this guitar. It is stunning in real life. Super flawless high quality paint job. The neck alone is worth the price. Super feel, frets are rounded off with absolutely no sharpness on the edges. It’s butter. Setup is great too. I literally can’t say enough about how impressed I am with this guitar and the high quality AMS always delivers! If you are reserved you really should give it a try. I got the vintage white model and I learned that the neck is the same wood Gibson uses on their Les Pauls. They got everything right with this guitar. Simple but awesome.

Had to try one for myself after seeing quite a few vids on these. Grabbed the Candy Blue. It’s a great finish, flawless. The neck is great feeling and the frets are really nice minus needing a little dressing to get the scratchy feel gone. Play it address a couple of areas like trem change or just setting it up, check the nut…mine was cut nicely and I just used a little nut sauce, snip the capacitor or change the volume pot, put some better tuners if you want a let it rip!! Really fun and great feeling/playing guitar. Oh yeah the stock pu is not bad at all. I have plenty of pu’s lying around and may stick something else in but no hurry.

Product Review
I saw multiple reviews on YouTube about a cheap guitar with KILLER sound and played like a dream. I thought what the heck if this thing didn't pan out I could just stick it on the wall as eye candy. Well it seldom hangs there due to it being my number 1 tracking guitar that sits right beside the computer desk. The way it plays simply blows my mind, very nice craftsmanship at any price. I've had this guitar for a month now and I just cant put it down. To be perfectly clear I own a few high end Kramers each costing over $1,000 and this hidden gem gives them a run for their money. This is a great entry level guitar that wont disappoint the beginner or the experienced player. If you don't believe my review check out the online reviews for yourself, as they say the proof is in the pudding.

Smokin' Deal on a SMOKIN' Guitar

Product Review
Just got mine today. AMS was easy to deal with and very professional. Shipping was super-fast.
I got the Ruby Red model - its actually hot pink by the way and my wife has already claimed it so now I have to buy another one for myself.
I am really particular about my things so expect an honest run down and review.
Frets - GREAT for a sub $200 guitar but good not great overall. Frets have a copper sheen and a very scratchy/dirty feel to them that you can actually hear. They will need to be polished but that's easy. Also, a tiny bit of sprout but not a huge deal and something I probably dont have to clean up but I will anyway.
Neck feel - AWESOME! It is on the thin side but still has a subtle contour. Its a 12" radius but feels a little flatter. And the frets feel a touch less than medium. The black fret markers really set off the maple neck - all of these things I love!
Tuners - tuners are OK, what you would expect at this price point. They seem to hold tune although I have the bridge decked on dont use the trem bar. I intended to replace with lockers anyway but probably wouldnt have to otherwise.
Nut - this may need a little cleaning up if you are picky about the function of your nut. It works fine, but I do get a little string friction in two of the strings when tuning. I will just give the slots a quick run with some fine sand paper. I think if you just keep it lubricated, that would be sufficient.
Neck pocket - no finish cracks and neck sits nicely in the pocket although there is the slightest of gaps at the treble side of the neck in the pocket on the face of the guitar. The guitar was shipped over 30 degree days with low humidity so this could be the reason behind the thin neck pocket gap and the minimal fret sprout.
Bridge and pot - Its a 500k pot that works as it should if you remove the capacitor, otherwise its basically an on/off knob. Bridge is also fine. The trem block is small but for the little tone gain and the fact that I have mine decked and dont use the trem bar, it works as it should and wont be replaced.
Finish - its gorgeous. The paint is deep and rich. There are no spots, stains, burns, or polish build up. It looks and feels brilliant.
Sound/Pickup - its just GREAT. I initially budgeted for a pickup replacement (among other things), but the stock pickup screams. I struggle with pinch harmonics and I can make this guitar squeal - its crazy. This is a respectful and accurate homage to the 80s (I am an 80s kid).
Final thoughts - there are so many things I planned to do with this guitar from a mod perspective that I find arent really necessary so I am trying to be cautious - why turn a $200 quality guitar into a $400 quality guitar. I love this guitar already having done nothing to it but tune it and remove the capacitor. If you are reading this review - yes, buy one!

You can only give this beast 5 stars for the price.
The good: Great neck, great playability, nice tone, not too heavy, beautiful paint, shred machine.
The Bad: the tremolo, plastic nut.
But for $179 it still sounds and plays great. Also a perfect build machine. Add a Duncan SH6 and a better tremolo and you have a true beast. I love this thing. And you will too.

I've owned this guitar several times, and I've never been disappointed. Simple: 1 p/up, 1 volume. Done. The body contour is perfect, and the set up from the factory is totally usable (I like the action super low, and it's easily attainable with a few tweaks). The pickup is rock and roll, but if you want to switch out, easy peasy. Want an easy guitar to rock out with? This is it. Buy it. You won't be disappointed......

I really like these guitars. I have three already and still want more lol. Everything arrived safe and was packaged pretty good but the guitar had some badly rusted screws on the hardware that was very ugly and noticable that I had to fix. Other than that everything was good. Great price, Great customer service, fast shipping. I would definitely recommend AMS to any musician looking for good deals on good gear. ????

Expect to have to upgrade some stuff if you are picky. I did have to polish the frets. They were a bit gritty when bending. It is a great foundation if you want to mod a guitar. That is why I bought it. Very easy to play. Smooth comfortable neck. I very seldom use the neck pickup in any guitar so it is great for me.

Wow, the Kramer Baretta Special exceeded my expectations in what a $179 guitar should be in every way. At this price, it is a steal and the best value you'll find anywhere for an excellent shred stick. I picked up the Candy Blue with maple fingerboard. Man, the neck on this guitar is wonderful. Somewhere in between a Charvel and Ibanez neck. Slim and fast with smooth frets. Perfect action out of the box. The guitar is beautiful and very comfortable to play and the pickup screams. Tuners are holding tune well as long as you don't use the whammy. Excellent guitar to mod, or just keep it stock. I already want another in a different color.

Always wanted a Kramer guitar but never had the money and when I did finally have it they shut down MusicYo website (one of the first website that sold inexpensive guitars). Due to the HUGE loose of the GHOAT, EVH, I decided to get one.
Now for my review. As a starter guitar I think this will do. You will have to do a setup, lower the string height I added a shim between the body and neck. The fret board is dry so you will have to oil it, Dunlop sells a good kit for this. PLEASE DO NOT use any furniture polish.
Frets are rounded off really good as guitars at this price would have rough and sharp edges. But on the downside they will need a good polish as they feel rough.
Pickups are not high output but okay for the price. The highs are not that clear and the lows are a little muddy but they do have some clarity.
Overall as a beginner guitar or a guitar for modification this is the best one for the price.

Product Review
This is a great little guitar for the price. Been playing for 30yrs and have guitars worth more than 5x's this one and this one is almost on par with them. It by far exceeded my expections that were somewhat low.
Only drawback I give this guitar is the frets. Nothing wrong with them, they just come with medium jumbo and I normally play jumbo frets. So its preference not a quality issue.
The pickup isnt bad, better than alot of budget guitars Ive had or played thru the years. It could be a tad hotter but again im use to Seymour Duncan's ,JB,SH5 custom and SH6 distortion pups.
Neck has a nice profile and the action was good right out of the box, only needed to do a minor truss rod tweak but thats to be expected on any guitar being shipped thru different climates.
Only things that could make this guitar better would be jumbo frets and a floyd rose but then the price would go up.
Had it 2 weeks and already modded it. Installed flush mount Original Floyd Rose,SD SH5 Custom pup,new Bournes low friction pot, nice set of grover tuners and a D-Tuna.
Cant put this thing down.
Also the Ruby Red model doesnt look red in person, really looks like an off pink. Cool for 80's style since I can remember seeing those brighter colors back them on Kramers that were everywhere.

So I ordered the blue one first and absolutely fell in love with it. It was packed very well, and this 80s machine played great right out of the box, the pickup sounds great, and the tremolo is ok. Now I'm a guitar tweaker at heart so here is what I did: I ordered a new Gotoh 510T-BS2 tremolo unit for it, also a new graphtec nut, and had some guitar fetish locking tuners laying around that I installed. Also installed a new matching blue dimarzio super 3 humbucker with a dimarzio 500k pot, bust out the aquanet and spandex this baby really screams now, couldn't be happier. Now a note on the Gotoh tremolo, the holes didn't match up perfectly with the stock holes so I plugged the ones that didn't match with wood and glue and re-drilled new ones with no problems so far ( take your time). To top it off I installed some fretboards stickers for the icing on the cake, from creativecuts on ebay, the richie sambora stars like on his signature model, and that did it! I loved this guitar so much I immediately ordered the purple model, which was back in March. I just received it beginning of September as it was on backorder! Wow wow wow! The purple one is absolutely amazingly beautiful, love it! For $179 you can't beat these guitars! Thank you American Musical Supply you folks are the best!!

This is a great guitar to customize. As soon as I got it, I took it apart and had it custom painted into a Motley Crue Theater of Pain replica. Added a Floyd Rose tremolo and VH Frankenstein pickup to turn this into a beast. The neck was already great so no other mods were necessary. Would have been nice if this came with a gig bag though, and I would have paid the extra especially if it had the KRAMER logo on it.

I gave this Red one 5 Stars because for the money.., well here.
The action, intonation, neck being straight, staying in tune while playing hard & soft for a long time & then picking it up again the next day is sweet. Man is it sweet. The Allen wrench that came with mine is too small. & none of my other Allen sets seem to fit to adjust the bridge height. But set up great right out of the box. The volume knob doesn't get louder & louder as you turn it up. It's either off or full volume. Which is fine with me. I ordered this from A.M.S. on 29 April 2020 & got it on 5 May 2020. Shipped to up state New York. U.S.A. You won't be disappointed. Sounds great. No fret buzzing, or sharp fret wires. For the money.., It's AWESOME!! And the Kramer Hard shell case item # KRM 940KRSTCS that I also bought from A.M.S. 5 May 2020 & got it 18 July 2020 is solid, well built, & fits my brand new Red Kramer Baretta Special perfectly. A big inside pocket for strap, stings & such. Gray interior. Interior Case body cavity hugs the guitar body perfectly And plenty of room for the head stock. I hope this helps. Nice job Kramer, & A.M.S. !!

I really like this guitar! It's got my favorite headstock shape, the hockeystick. OK, let's get this out of the way first, this is a great guitar for the price. Sub $200, great setup, excellent sounding pickup, the finish (blue) looks fantastic, and the painted headstock is a nice touch. If the frets had been polished, it might have gotten 5 stars, but, as they are, they are playable. Out of the box, tuned it up, plugged it in, hit an open E chord, and was greeted with a most glorious, mid-range heavy, ringing sound, straight outta the '80s! I swear, my hair grew 3 inches and stood up when I played that chord! The neck is nice and comfortable, not a baseball bat, and not an Ibanez Wizard either, just nice, with no buzzes or sharp ends. I really like single pickup guitars, but the slant seems to give this very hot (15k ohms) pickup a unique sound, mid pushed with a round low end and a smooth treble response. The lack of a tone control does not bother me, I wouldn't use it if it were present, plus, you don't loose the top end from the pickup. Overall, if you are starting out or want a beater guitar, this one will make you happy if it's your style.

This is my first Kramer Baretta Special Electric Guitar and for $179.99 it is a real steal. Beautiful candy blue finish with a 12" neck radius. The thin elliptical shape of this guitar neck makes the playing experience a joy. Its Epiphone single pickup gives a good amount of tonal options when playing at different points along the strings and by changing pick attack, it really hums. Using the single volume control can take you from mild to wild if your also using a good amp. More then well worth the price. Plan to buy another. Was trying to get the Kramer LA Pacer but, they went out of stock so, if your in the market for an inexpensive electrical guitar with excellent build quality, grab it while you can.

I wasn't expecting this guitar to be more than everyone made it out to be on some many videos I watched and also reviews. I had to have the piece of equipment in my hands to make that call. I loved when I saw it in person and held it. Then once I played it I was intrigued at the fact that it was only 180$. This is the best guitar I have played in a long time. It may need a little tweaking here and there but its ok because you own it and its ok to customize it. You put you want into it and make it a one of a kind. I love the fact that the highs and mids on this humbucker are perfect enough for me. I will be changing the tuners to locking tuners because as you use the wham it does untune itself and having to retune every time you dive. But again its ok this is where the customs come in play. overall badass guitar and very sleek design and lightweight.

Product Review
Humbly...I am a professional guitarist with about a dozen guitars that range from mid to high quality. I am also a frugal shopper and only purchase high-value equipment. For 30 years I had always thought it would be fun to own Kramer Baretta (preferably a vintage 80s version) but either couldn't afford ine or when I could the deals just weren't available and I didn't want to invest that much. A few weeks ago I stumbled across this "affordable" Baretta Special and looked up reviews online. Everything I saw indicated what a great guitar it was for the money. I figured that since I am pretty good at setting up guitars to make them play really easy that I would order one. I am stunned at how good this guitar is...and after putting a little time into a custom setup (and changing the pickup), this guitar is seriously one of my favorites and I will be playing it a majority of the time in my 80s Tribute Band. The neck is fantastic and incredibly fast and easy to play. The stock pickup is pretty decent and didnt "have" to be changed...but I had a nice Seymour Duncan sitting around so it was a great upgrade. I picked up a $39 hard shell case and this guitar is ready for the road. Intonation is great and tuning is very stable. The fret edges are fantastic also...usually inexpensive guitars (and many mid to high cost guitars) are sharp enough to cut your fingers. The fret edges on this guitar are perfect. It's hard to point to anything better at $179.

My first Kramer guitar. Finish on the body is absolutely beautiful. Pure white but everything is simply laid out and in the right place. Pickup is really good for the money. Simple controls make for great playing. The guitar is comfortable and playable. Definitely would use it on a gig. For the price might even get another. Well worth the money.

Product Review
I've had this Kramer for a few months and I really like it. I was surprised at it's setup on arrival. The action and intonation was very good. However, I have since switched to heavier gauge strings, which made the guitar sound even better. From day one though the higher strings were very resonant and crisp. What I'm saying is you can play a 6 string chord and hear every note in the chord. The pickup in mine has a lot of gain. It's dialed in at 5 for rhythm and I hardly go above 8. If you love harmonics from anywhere this guitar with this pickup has that.I'd recommend this guitar over an Affinity Strat any day. They just feel like a pile while holding. Is this as good as a $400-$500 guitar as some people claim? No, but it's well worth the $180. Only thing I may consider changing is putting in a knob to back the treble down so I don't have to turn down the treble on my amp every time I plug this guitar in.

First of all, if you are a beginner, this is a really nice guitar to start with. It's not perfect but it's better than those horrible Fender Squire packs. Out of the box, the guitar doesn't play all that well. I'm noticing some small fret buzz but it's not a big issue. The intonation is a little off but very close. This guitar is a also perfect for anyone who wants to mod it. I'm planning to add roller bridge saddles, roller nut, killswitch, and and chrome pickup ring. I love the fact that it only has 1 knob and that's just volume switch. For $179 with no tax and free shipping, this is the best deal.

This guitar is fun to play. I gave it 4 Stars instead of 5 because it will not stay in tune. The tuners are weak. I'm going to change strings and see if that helps. I plan to make this a project and install a floyd Rose Special down the road. Good guitar for the price, I thought I'd have to redo the back of the neck at this price but it feels great on the back and front!Humbucker sounds good. Its always great doing business with AMS I very much enjoy their service.

This is a great guitar for the price. ONE of the best made guitars PERIOD. I have guitars that cost $4,000 and this is NOT close to it but it is better than guitars that cost around $500. LOVE IT. With quality tuners and a nice pick-up this thing is worth at least $500!

After all the great reviews I read about this guitar I thought it might be a hidden gem. Unfortunately it's pretty much what you'd expect for $179. Mine has all same problems typically associated with guitars in this price range. Even after a full pro setup it just plays and sounds like a beginner guitar. It looks great, but that's its only strong point. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I played enough Kramers in the 80's to know it doesn't compare.

I have had this guitar for two weeks and can't put it down. Plays great, looks great, and sounds great. And for 187 bucks...You can't get a better guitar for 3 times that price.
I only use it for metal stuff and it kicks a$$.
Fastest neck ever and I also have a San Dimas and a Strat. The Kramer neck is faster and smoother then both of them
Tone is excellent for the type of music I play
It is good in that it serves its purpose
Much better then other guitars this price... I would assume.
Action was perfect out of the box
