| Quality:
| Very dependable if you read the manual. Solid feeling. |
| Features:
| Its extreme programmability is very useful to me. Even I could figure how to make horn sections and change the rotating speaker parameters. |
| Ease of Use:
| You can play the wonderful sounds as they are right out of the box or you can tweak every little parameter is you are geek enough. Definitely read the manual and go online to the Kurzweil website, very helpful. There's a forum, too. |
| Sound:
| I am very surprised that there are any silly, unusable sounds. Every one sounds like the real thing. |
| Action:
| It is light enough to imagine you are playing an organ and heavy enough to imagine you are playing a piano, the right kind of in between feel. |
| Value:
| Yes. It replaced a triple stack. |

| Subject: | TONS of potential... NOT very intuitive. |
| Quality:
| The board appears to have solid construction... I'm not worried about hauling it to gigs. The only thing that is odd (in my opinion) is the slight gap between the back of the keys and the keyboard frame which is covered by a thin piece of felt. Would rather have the keys flush to the frame. |
| Features:
| One of the main reasons I bought this board was because of the VA (virtual analog) engine and the KB3 capability all under one hood. Although there are better B3 emulators and more powerful analog synths out there, this is a great combination. Both perform well. Just don't expect to have a Roland Jupiter and an actual B3 in one! |
| Ease of Use:
| I need to qualify this by saying I have ALWAYS preferred designing my own sounds instead of cramming the "closest fit" into place. This is NOT an easy keyboard to program. This is my first Kurzweil (have always been a loyal Roland/Korg user) and the architecture (V.A.S.T.) is not very intuitive- it seems as though I am learning from scratch. The manual is poorly written, starting with the title- "Getting Start Manual". HOWEVER, there is a great deal of support from the Kurzweil site as well as other forums, including updated manuals, OS upgrades, helpful hands-on video tutorials, and even a free download of an endorsed third party sound editing program. I am pretty sure this machine is amazing... it will just take me a while to get there. |
| Sound:
| The sound is good, although I think I bought into the hype of all the positive press this board has gotten, and my expectations were unrealistic. Honestly, I am not as blown away by the factory sounds as I thought I would be. The electro-mechanical, string and wind instrument sounds are top of the line. The guitars, pads and synths are mediocre. The exceptions to this are the tape-drive synth sounds and moog sounds, which are fantastic. The mellotron sounds go much further in realism than just delaying the attack of a string patch... this thing actually sounds like a mellotron!!! As for the acclaimed Kurzweil pianos, I am so far disappointed. The piano sounds are "good", but not better than other synths I use. Overall, I wish the PC3 had a greater variety of out-of-the-box sounds to act as starting blocks for editing. Instead, the PC3 has many sounds that sound ridiculously similar to one another. |
| Action:
| The PC3's semi-weighted action is a compromise- synth and organ players might find it sluggish, while piano players may feel the key refraction/rebound to be a bit anxious. |
| Value:
| At the price I payed here at American Musical Supply- a great deal. I would not, however, pay the retail (or even close) for this board. I'm hoping the value of this board reveals itself as I delve deeper and deeper into programming and learning the ropes. |
