I had no issues with my XTLive since 05 and I am goping the X3 will be the same
Sound:
With the POD XTLive sitting next to the POD X3Live, the X3 just sounds better live, and this is with using the exact same settings migrated from the XTLive to the X3Live, same amp and guitar.
Reliability:
I had no issues with my XTLive since 05 and I am goping the X3 will be the same
Overall:
Very pleased with this effects unit. I finally upgraded from the Pod XTLive to this unit and its approx 100 usd more than the XTLive and well worth the additional cost. The difference is night and day between the two units. My XTLive has all the addition models which are the same with this unit but the X3Live sounds so much better. The addition of the USB 2.0 and more connection possibilities round out the additional upgrades from one unit to the other. The addition of a boost switch and the live Wah on/off switch are fantastic additions to this line of products.
Playability and Feel:
The smaller buttons allow for more foot activated features and the externally adjustable friction on the Wah; with a provided allen wrench is a nice touch. The XTLive came from the factory with a issue that the WAH squeaked through the amp you was playing through; no such problems here.
Tone:
Very nice sounding unit, each model has their own tone and you can tailor make a virtual rig via Gearbox or through the unit itself.
Finish:
Real glassy looking, although more plastic with the X3Live; where the XTLive was more metal
Action:
There is no action out of the box.

Very convenient for the gigging musician who wants to save his back
Quality:
It's pretty roadworthy!
Sound:
It's very good thru a full range pa and extremely consistent. No need for sound checks with our band usage. Setup and play and get the heck outa there and sound good doing it.
Reliability:
No problems yet.Update the firmwware as soon as you get it or risk losing any custom presets. I leraned this the hard way.
Overall:
I'm a gigging musician playing at least 4 nights a week. I'm presently using two of these. One for a backup. Haven't needed to use the backup yet. I was skeptical about buying the X3 live. I've been a tone frek for years, but got pressure from the band to use something simple and easy to set up. We setup the entire 4 piece band with PA and light in 45 minutes, so this floor box is a godsend. No matter how you add up the features you get all in one box to any other combination of effects & amps, it would cost much more to achieve this any other way. AND you'd have to worry about patch cables going bad and having to troubleshoot. I have no time for those problems. We get in and out of the gig as fast as possible. Sometimes 2 gigs in one day. This thing sounds incredibly good through a full range pa system. That's how you have to judge this thing. Running it thru a regular guitar amp won't get the full range capabilities of it.
Playability and Feel:
The footswitches and wah/ volume pedal work nicely.
Tone:
You can pretty much get any tone you want. Not as great as a tube amp, but then again no fighting with the PA guy trying to get the mic to capture the right tone. Stereo connections to the pa.
Finish:
It looks cool that's for sure. Plenty light.

I am using this for bass, and some vocals. The bass sounds are top-notch, and the vocal sound is impressive.

this iteration is alot better than the old ones, with the plastic pedals and whatnot. No squeaking issues from the volume/wah pedal like with my old XT Live.
Overall:
This is a very handy and very good sounding piece of equipment.

Tone:
If you can hear a tone in your head, you can have it with this... to a certain extent. Keep in mind that this is a digital rendition of what the engineers thought real amps sounded like. There are very subtle nuances that are not there in the digital versions... but to be honest, 99.99% of us won't miss those little bits of sound.

Still new to me, but if seems rugged.
Overall:
I have been a full-time internationally touring musician for 22 years. I have played the best guitars and the best gear. I now use a Variax 700 black trem, 705 bass, and the X3 Live pedal exclusively. I gig a lot. I run direct and let the X3 do the tone work for me. I use in ear monitors or floor wedges and love not lugging amps and cabinets around. I used the XT Live for years and had ZERO problems with it other than the external power supply. I am still new to the X3 but it feel more substantial, more ergonomically pleasing and the improvements over the XT are things I had hoped for.

It takes some time
Quality:
I've had this thing for about 4 or 5 months now and haven't had a problem out of it. So no complaints here.
Sound:
It took some time, but I did get some decent tones out of this for recording. You're still not gonna sound like a JCM or anything though. For playing live it's best to just use your amps channels and use this for effects. Atleast that's my opinion. But you can still get good distortion from this. There are a lot of useful effects and then some I have no use for whatsoever.
Reliability:
I've never had a problem with this. People talk about the plastic knobs, but it shouldn't be a problem unless you're dropping it and kicking them. Its pretty sturdy built. Sometimes the metal switches stick, but it's not a big problem.
Overall:
Right out of the box this thing is gonna sound like crap. There's so much to it that you can't just plug and play. My first mistake was not setting the output. But once you get the updates and play with this for awhile you'll be happy.
Playability and Feel:
Switching between tones is pretty smooth live.
Tone:
Good tone. Not great tone, but maybe with more tweaking you can get great tones.

X3 Live Rocks! - Full time Musician review!
Quality:
I've had NO problems with switches, knobs, etc. I wish the tuner was a bit more readable in direct sunlight. I use an external one anyway
Sound:
Anyone who says anything bad about the tone is just wrong. The pedals emulated are almost infinitely adjustable sound-wise There are EQ's in the unit to make this as personal as you want.
Reliability:
Used it professionally almost daily for 6 months. No issues! Sold 4 tube amps after using this for 2 months. The tube amps couldn't keep up. This is quieter, more responsive and much much more dependable.
Overall:
Don't know how you could do better than this! Ive owned both the X3 Live and the Tonelab LE.. no comparison of sound and connectability. Line 6 has XLR outs that can be sonically separated from the 1/4" outs, allowing you to send a direct signal to the Mixer and one directly to your amp. You can set the amp output to several different modes, depending on what type of amp you use and where you want to connect it (Combo/Stack/Input/Effects Loop). Very very very very versatile!!!! Sound better than ALL of the others! I tried them; I know. Buy it; return it if you don't like it. The AC-30 model sound BETTER than any mic'd AC-30 I have ever owned or use. You would spend thousands and thousands of dollars trying to buy all the equipment that is emulated here. AMAZING!
Playability and Feel:
Very easy to update via Line 6 monkey. Very easy to program onboard and with the GearBox. I recommend using the GearBox with a Netbook and taking it with you to gigs if you are a person who always likes to tweak his pedals. It's easy to adjust and save; easy to go back to saved setups.
Tone:
Variable as the user sets it up..... if it sounds bad, it's because the person setting it up made it sound this way.
Finish:
Good looks... just brush off the dust or sand from your shoes or sandals and keep going.
Action:
There is a learning curve if you have never used a modeling pedal before. BE PATIENT and persistent. It will work for you if you only try.

Blown Away
Quality:
I have had it a few weeks but the things feels very solid. It is made very well. I will only be using this for my home studio so it will receive very little wear and tear. In fact I use my computer to change patches. I figure with some dusting it will last years!!
Reliability:
Well, same as above. When I turn it on it comes on....isn't that the important thing?
Overall:
I was very amazed by this thing. First of all it is much bigger than the pictures show. Much bigger. Also, I spend about 3-4 hours a day playing with this and i still haven't figured everything out on it. The first time I played it I was amazed so every new trick I learn on it is just a giant bonus. I played several pedals and spent a long time researching pedals before buying this one. I HAVE MADE THE CORRECT CHOICE!!!
Playability and Feel:
Playability may not really apply here, but it feels great beneath my feet (when I actually have to turn in manually.
Tone:
How do you rate tone on a product that changes tone with every press of the button? But, through a computer or PA....every tone is amazing.
Finish:
It's a little generic, but hey....who can complain about black and silver....it matches everything!
Action:
Forget the presets. I don't know who picked these or who even approved them to go on the hard drive, but dump them fast. I recommend going to Customtone.com and browsing through there. Thousands of present tones.....and all of them are better than the presets. But before doing anything...UPDATE YOUR SOFTWARE!!!!!

Superb Piece of Hardware
Quality:
The X3 Live is a superb piece of hardware, and is solid for stage, studio, or home use. Its easy to learn to love tweaking, much like we enjoy cooking by seasoning food. All musicians are cooks, and the X3 is no different.
Reliability:
The unit is sturdy and dependable under normal use. However, abusing it will get you negative results. So don't do it!

Whether going with a modeler or effect is entirely subjective. But, I can't afford many amps or effects, so the X3 is a great option. Its sound and features give you everything you need to achieve your musical vision.
