I've had this amp for a month and I have only touched the tip of the iceberg with this it's capability. I am in love with the looping feature. Wish it was longer than 14 sec but I guess that is what a laptop and mic are for. I also wish I could have a little more control with this feature. When you make an over-dub it's there once it's there. you have to go back and start your whole looping process again if you happen to have more than one loop, but once again this is what a laptop and a mic are for. Reliability How has it stood up over time? I've been using it for just a few months now, but it hasn't failed me on anything. With AMS giving an additional year of warranty, how can you go wrong? Overall Your general opinion of this product. First of all, you should get the controller board for the amp. This will allow you to download the latest firmware through your PC. I just downloaded ver 2.04 and use the software to create and edit the user presets. It was easy to download the software and install it. The amp's programing is somewhat confusing to get around when you first use it, but with time and patience, you will learn that it's pretty straight forward. It is loud and has many crazy voices along with very smooth, cool voices. I wish that it had more than four channels to store your favorite voices. A Cat5 cable coming out of the amp, into the pedalboard, running a USB cable into my laptop that converts to a MIDI signal with the Line6 Monkey software, downloading from Line6.com into the Spider amp. lol - amazing. I'm a musican of many years, using mostly tube amps (Marshall, 5150, etc) I have a HUGE pedal board which includes the Line6 m13 stomp mod. I bought this amp because I need a practice amp in my room, something seperate than my studio. I wanted to study up more on guitar theory & have something that I could play and didn't have to go outside into the adjacent building. But, I wanted the FX too. This amp does it all. The 2.0 firmware is really unbelievable it gives you about 70 more fx & sounds. The fuzzface is screaming!! There is NO other amp like this. People spoke in it, sung in it, and it was LOUD and it was an outdoor event to boot. The event was even broadcasted on TV by the local news station. This amp has amazing control & sustain too.

If you're having similar problems with yours, I highly reccommend doing a factory reset first before writing it off as a $299 toy like I almost did. No problems since then. I've found that alternative in the Spider 75 IV and almost prefer it to my tube amp now. Also bought the Shortboard MKII which I highly reccommend (or the $99 mini version). A foot controller really opens up the hidden possiblilies with these amps.
