This is a great amp perfect for in home playing. It gets nice and quiet while keeping its great sound. Also gets nice and loud when you want to show off while keeping great sound.
Great FX and pre sets allows for hours of exploring and fun.
The three payments of $100.00 make this a highly affordable product.

at last an amp that gives me the clear punch with easily accessible sounds and effects at a touch. Well made and great value for money. Its got everything. I have added the the FBV MK2 shortboard to make it really easy for Gig work. I can see whats going on during numbers.

For the price, the quality is Great. The preset tones make it sound like I've actually been playing awhile instead of a beginner, which I am. The volume is awesome,I could use it by itself as a stage amp no problem. The looper is also very good, but instead of 14 seconds it could be 20, but that's no big problem.Out of a rating 1-10, I give it a 12...

this is a great little power house with excellent sound.
I have an old marshall tube amp that makes the house vibrate and frightens the neighbors. This line 6 spider IV is the real deal with sound that can be brought down to room size, or bring down the house. There are great variations obtained by simple flicks of the 11 chrome knobs. this little amp that could is producing great sound for the strat & ovation I am currently plugged into. Price...an unbelievable $299. Might just buy the tele select HH with the savings. I 4 starred the reliability due to only having the amp for a little over a week.
amp looks solid and so far so good.

Your general opinion of this product.
Some guitarists will tell you that you will never get a 'good' tone from a solid state amp - and if you want a warm distortion/bluesy old-style/cranked tube sound, they are right. However, not all music requires that type of sound. This amp can provide a clean tone, and the various amp models and FX built-in can also provide a pretty good approximation to most sounds. Learning how to program the FX and user preset patches can take time and you need one of the FBV controller pedals for best access to them.
If you want the true tube distortion sound, use a Tube Screamer pedal between your guitar and this amp.
Plenty loud enough for practices with a band, on stage with a band you will need to mic this for balanced sound.

Made very well, every detail is strong and looks good.
My other line 6 amps have lasted years, and from the looks of this one, it will too.
Its a heavy little guy looks can be deceiving, as iv attempted its not to great if you have to walk alittle ways to practice with.
The 12 inch is powerful and fits with any distortion you want to play!
The black leather like material looks great, but i wouldn't want anything sharp around it, may rip.

The knobs tend to be a bit touchy but not a major issue at all. I've had this amp for a month and I have only touched the tip of the iceberg with this it's capability. I am in love with the looping feature. Wish it was longer than 14 sec but I guess that is what a laptop and mic are for. I also wish I could have a little more control with this feature. When you make an over-dub it's there once it's there. you have to go back and start your whole looping process again if you happen to have more than one loop, but once again this is what a laptop and a mic are for. I also have FBV Express which makes this amp 20x's more fun to play with. Next I will be investing in a studio pod.
The limits of your imagination is the only thing to stop you from creating what you want. Very in-depth when editing effects, everything from decay time on your reverb to pitch changes. Currently I am using a PRS and it's hard at times to get that clean sound I am looking for but I blame this more on my guitar .... I could only imagine the sounds you could get out of a hollow-body... probably the most cleanest sexiest sounds of all-time
I like the lcd screen. Could be bigger .... but it could always be smaller so I am not complaining.

Based upon everything that I have seen and used on this amp, there is a lot of quality built in to it.
I've been using it for just a few months now, but it hasn't failed me on anything. With AMS giving an additional year of warranty, how can you go wrong?
Your general opinion of this product.
First of all, you should get the controller board for the amp. This will allow you to download the latest firmware through your PC. I just downloaded ver 2.04 and use the software to create and edit the user presets. It was easy to download the software and install it. The amp's programing is somewhat confusing to get around when you first use it, but with time and patience, you will learn that it's pretty straight forward. It is loud and has many crazy voices along with very smooth, cool voices. I wish that it had more than four channels to store your favorite voices. It is relatively light for it's punch and the handle is actually usable!
The amp's controls are easy to see and get to. The screen is back-lit, so the display is easy to read. As you increase/decrease any of the controls, the intensity is displayed until you are done.
Like I said previously ... what kind of tone do you want? I am sure that you can tweak this amp to get about anything you want and then store it to your user preset bank.
This amp looks great and appears to be well built.
No 'action' here, but the controls are smooth and responsive. Built in tuner is very responsive and if you get the FBV foot controller, the tuner is very visible right at your feet!

So far so good, I have had it for about 6 months, bought the shortboard; did the upgrade, which is downright impressive. A Cat5 cable coming out of the amp, into the pedalboard, running a USB cable into my laptop that converts to a MIDI signal with the Line6 Monkey software, downloading from Line6.com into the Spider amp. lol - amazing. The amp even stated 'downloading' when it was updating.

This amp is AWESOME. I'm a musican of many years, using mostly tube amps (Marshall, 5150, etc) I have a HUGE pedal board which includes the Line6 m13 stomp mod. I bought this amp because I need a practice amp in my room, something seperate than my studio. I wanted to study up more on guitar theory & have something that I could play and didn't have to go outside into the adjacent building. But, I wanted the FX too. This amp does it all. The 2.0 firmware is really unbelievable it gives you about 70 more fx & sounds. The fuzzface is screaming!! There is NO other amp like this. I read posts were people were debating this amp or a Roland micro.. dude, this is a no brainer. This things rules even over my full stack.
The Playability is unheard of; example. I had a 911 tribute show, where a friend needed a PA. While I didn't want to lug out the PA board, speakers, rack, etc. I grab a Shure57 a cable and my Spider amp. Set it on 'clean' tone and it was awesome. People spoke in it, sung in it, and it was LOUD and it was an outdoor event to boot. The event was even broadcasted on TV by the local news station. This amp has amazing control & sustain too.
the tone is AWESOME you can dial in any sound. The presets of other songs, are amazing. You really feel like your hearing them from the CD. I recently recorded with this amp, unbelievable! Just mic'd it up and ran mono, 24bit into my Cubase and it really blew my mind. I'm going to record with this amp alot more. The sounds & tones you can create are of many amps and many guitars.

At first I found the effects to be barely noticable crap (I immediately installed the 1.52 firmware). I was also having quick dropouts and brought both of these concerns to Line 6 support. They told me to try a factory reset which I did and it made a world of difference. Not only did the dropouts stop and the effects suddenly pop out, but the amp sounded a bit more full over all. If you're having similar problems with yours, I highly reccommend doing a factory reset first before writing it off as a $299 toy like I almost did. No problems since then.
Seems reliable enough so far for the price. At first I found the effects to muddy & crappy (v1.52 firmware). I was also having occasional audio dropouts. I was looking for an alternative to hauling my 80lb tube amp around the streets and trains in NYC. I've found that alternative in the Spider 75 IV and almost prefer it to my tube amp now. Also bought the Shortboard MKII which I highly reccommend (or the $99 mini version). A foot controller really opens up the hidden possiblilies with these amps.
Could use a little more high end at times but I think that's more my guitars than anything. Other than that I give the sounds on this amp a solid 8.5 out of 10 after spending some time with it.
Knobs are a little flimsy but really... for the price tag and the sounds this amp is capable of, to complain would be silly. I've been playing for 20+ years and in the past have paid 3x the $ for a fraction of what this amp does in both functionality and sound quality.
Out of the box as with most things like this I found the presets to be s*cky.

This amp does not work as advertised. It works WAY better. I've had this amp almost a month and I still have yet to come anywhere close to playing with all of its features. Much more than I expected in terms of usability.
Controls are straightforward and are easy to use. I bought the FBV Express MKII Foot Controller also. I suggest you do the same to obtain all this amp has to offer, including updates and extra tones from the Line 6 website.
Tone? If you can imagine it, you can produce it.

I think this is an awesome combo for practicing or jamming at home. It can get mighty loud, but gets kinda floppy and loses definition at high master vol levels. The looper is f-ing awesome for practicing. I'll repeat, the looper is an invaluable practice tool. Route some drum-and-bass tracks through the aux input and go to town. Makes practicing and solo jamming lots of fun.

I don't think it was a Line 6 issue, i have owned 4 Line 6 products in my life and, everyone has always worked great - My guess is either UPS dropped it, or i got the one bad amp out of 1,000,000 of them.
I had it plugged in for about 25 minuets and it started making a weird sound, almost a popping noise. then Poof! I heard a loud snap and seen a flash of light, then smoke! The amp died for no reason...I have many other amps and i know it was hooked up correctly, it was plugged into its own outlet with a power strip, Used a proper instrument cable. Normal Guitar..
