Product Rating Product Review I find that I prefer soundhole magnetic pups as opposed to piezo pups. And this company is most reputable in the industry. This will make a crappy acoustic sound good!

Product Review This is the best sounding soundhole pickup that I’ve used or heard. Output is pretty low and could use a preamp but I get decent volume plugged straight into my Marshall AS50D if I crank it a bit. I bought the M1 over the active M1A because of the weight difference and the fact the guitar’s thin spruce top carries all the weight. Seems like the heavier pickup would have a bigger effect on acoustic tone, so I’d rather use an outboard preamp.

Product Review I mounted this pickup in my Blueridge BR-180. Fantastic sound. Blows away the built in electronics in my Taylor guitar.

Your general opinion of this product. I was looking for a pickup that would let my Martin still sound like a Martin. I also did not want to deal with batteries. I wanted a passive pickup that kept the integrity of my acoustic sound. I tried a lot of soundhole pickups, and this one is THE one for me. Amplifies my Martin and keeps the sound intact. I did not want my acoustic to sound like my Les Paul or Fender Strat. And this pickup does exactly what I wanted it to do. Easy to install and the sound is perfect. What more could you ask for? It seems very well made and has a solid feel to it. The magnets are VERY strong, as you can tell by inserting the allen wrench into the sound post screws. A lot of pull there. And the fact that it comes with both a 10' cord AND a seperate strap jack for permanent installation is terrific! I installed perm. Seems solid as a rock and looks like it was factory installed. The pickup sets low enough in the soundhole that it does not get in the way, yet is seated at just the right depth for strumming. The tone is exactly what I wanted. It keeps the integrity of the acoustic guitar even at higher, amplified volumes, and I am very pleased with the resulting sound. It captues the nuances of my playing technique, and responds exactly as I want it to. I had to adjust a few pole pieces to suit my tone and amp, but that is expected. It was very close out of the box though and I could have left it as it was...but that would have been too easy! Looks like it is supposed to be right there, like Martin installed it at the factory. Very nice color and finish. New, but will probably last as long as guitar. And with no modifications actually made to the guitar (except strapjack hole) if anything went wrong, it would be easy to replace.

Nice build. Very solid pickup. I wish the plug in for the cord was on the opposite side, but this is not a big deal. I just got it a few days ago, but with proper care I don't expect this to be a problem. Your general opinion of this product. I love this thing. Way way way better then any piezo pickup. No piezo quack. No harsh unatural harmonics. Just the sound of the guitar. I use this for direct recording. I don't have a good space for mic'ing things up. Well it sounds so good I've been playing more. It's got a nice flat tone. EQ to taste and your good to go. And now for the big question, does it sound like an acoustic guitar? Well yeah. Maybe not like you put a mic on it in a studio. But way better then any acoustic simulation pedal. Works wonders for what I do. I like the color. N/A

A Working Musician's Opinion

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
Anybody familiar with LR Baggs can expect the same quality with the M1. I've been using it for six months now, moving it between guitars (often) with no problem. I'm sure if you *cranked* on the mounting screws, you'd risk cracking the plastic, but the rigid plastic is what allows it to sound the way it does.

FEATURES:
Sure, it's passive and they *expect* you'll use some type of acoustic preamp or active DI, but it still would've been nice to have even a tiny volume control on the unit. That being said, the features are what you'd expect. They include some extra poles for use with strings other than phosphor bronze. Including *both* the endpin hookup AND a standard cable is cool for those of us who can't afford to buy one of these for every guitar we own. The cables are super high quality (a nice feature!). The endpin allows for the hookup of a second source, such as existing undersaddle bridges - with a stereo cable, you could get you
