This is made as well as most modern day pedals in this price range.The only downside is that the design is dated. For that reason I personally have modified mine to have a solid floorboard and a bearing hinge at the heel pivot.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use,just hook it to the hoop and off you go. Be careful not to run it up too close on the hoop or the linkage will hit the drumhead.You have to back it off a little. I think this may be a result of bass drum hoops being skinnier than they were back in the day. Remember this thing hasn't changed much in (40?) years.

This is a quality product at a reasonable price.
Durability:
It has stood up to a lot of pounding.Because it is so basic it works great. I like the fact that the springs are not exposed which keeps fingers and clothing clean when handling it.
