Workmanship, materials and attention to detail well exceeded expectations.
The Sound is Legendary and can be heard on 100's of classic recordings. The wrap tite (Vintage Black Oyster) adds a additional layer/ply and will protect the maple from damage. The Atlas mounting system is integrated into the lugs and provides isolation/shock absorbstion. A Tom mount (cymbal stand mounting)is included and ships with the Bass drum. The hoops are similar to Pearl super hoops II, thick and chrome plated.The purchase was sweetened with a FREE snare (6.5" X 14"), Street price for the snare - $570. AMS acquired ONE set with the free snare in Vintage Black Osyter, Well Done. I use this set for recording and 3 microphones (Glenn John's Method) work very good, due to the deep and very clear sound of the 7 ply 100% maple shells. Usually we use 10 mics :(Audix,sennheiser,EV,shure)
I would encourage everyone that plays drums (Gig or Recording) to save your $$ and Get this Ludwig Classic Maple set (Fab 22 model) Your band mates and ears will be rewarded. Yes it is Expensive but if you research and listen to other sets at the end of the day the cost vs sound & durability are not even close in actual daily use. We have a Pearl and Mapex sets also (Japan & China), they sound good but the Ludwig is in my humble opinion the BEST!
